Thank you. We don't get "free" Hunts Post. I get it on line so may have to buy one if I want money off. Good store and checkouts were manned. Seems nicer than St Neots Lidl which is nearest for me.

Not long got back and it only just got accepted. The woman who has put it through without a problem before wasn't on the till so had to try someone new. She couldn't scan it and then said it's a photocopy so can't do it. I said it wasn't, it's a printout of the free Metro newspaper online. She called for the manager who tried reading the small print, but luckily I had printed it out in low resolution and it's almost impossible to read. (A possible trick there.) He gave up and said just this one time, and that he going find out for sure if printouts are allowed from now on.

Yes I know it will still scan if the checkout staff accept to put it through. But that's the point I'm making, with this change they have obviously become aware of this practice and you will find some that will not allow it now. I've had more than one refuse to accept printouts before this change but most have thankfully. I'm going to try it now and see if staff at my local have been notified. Be for anyone says anything, of course I'm not going to ask.

Online Print outs went through every time. No issues
xenophon
23 Sep 16 #61
No online printouts is a game changer now. If they uphold that then the 5 quid off in the Metro isn't going to be so hot. Will have to wait until it's in the Mail which of course always sets off the rabid haters frothing at the mouth.
jimmybo to xenophon
23 Sep 16 #63
"No online printouts" means nothing at the Lidl checkouts
It's up to the checkout staff - because the downloaded/printed voucher (scanned) will work - or if not the 2038/6832 manually inputted code will!

Too many vouchers to chose from this weekend:
£3 off £30 - Sainsburys
£6 off £30 - Waitrose
£4 off £40 - Tesco
£5 off £40 - Lidl
I am finding myself spending purely because I have a voucher in my pocket... which is bad IMHO.
Stacking up doesn't work cos there is always another bunch of vouchers popping out...

23 Sep 16 1 #58
we don't get the metro up here either, but we managed to use a printed out voucher just now. But it'll probably depend on who you get at the till or if they've been specifically told not to take them. I don't think the print outs will work at the self service as the cashier has to manually input the number, the barcode seems to print pretty small.

Although having just read the receipt it says it's a Store Opening voucher so not sure if it should have worked and they probably won't take another one during the week once they notice it.

It's very common now to get vouchers or discount off up to this amount. It's 12.5%, it's fine, but I wouldn't vote hot for it. Warm at most.
Just did shops last week in Waitrose and with the stuff we bought in their 'half price event' PLUS 20% off with out Picks, that's 70% discount. Worth having! Ok, some Waitrose stuff is dearer to start with, but it still wins hands down over these 10 to 15% discounts. AND you have to spend 40 quid! I have just had a load of vouchers from Sainsbury's, spend 20 quid get 2 quid off + 6 times Nectar points. So, effectively the same. Very common now.

Our Lidl branch is quite old but I think they had so many people moaning about having to queue for a few items, along with others with full trolleys that they eventually installed them but now, sometimes in the mornings there are absolutely no cashiers on the tills and people have to use them whether they like it or not and a lot of people don't like them. I don't mind them myself and even helped a elderly person check their shopping through. (The one staff member was very busy)

I think that the voucher/barcode would have worked at Lidl self scan tills - even with 6 bottles of mulled wine included in a £40 shop
WARNER107
23 Sep 16 1 #40
We have a new one opened in Eaton Socon this week and it has self scan tills. I spent over £40 today (before seeing this post) but as I had 6 bottles of mulled wine, I would have been out of luck with £5 off. As mentioned, it is difficult to spend £40 in Lidl unless there are good offers on stuff you want to stock up on.

That's good news
Let's hope that other Lidl branches (including the new stores opening) install self scan tills - where the downloaded/printed voucher (with barcode) should work

That should also stop the "Only two alcoholic products" nonsense in its scanning tracks!

Btw - Has anyone been refused the downloaded/printed voucher yet in their local Lidl?

I'm afraid the clause on "online print-outs" is new - I've just checked the last instance that I printed in May, and the T&Cs did *not* have this included at the time (only referring to copied, damaged or defaced).

It depends on your local Lidl checkout staff

The voucher will scan ok so it's up to the individual whether they accept or not

If you're in a Metro newspaper distribution area they should accept the e-voucher - but if not - the Lidl checkout staff may be confused :disappointed:
