I have one of these and it is great! One room is our Gym and the other is a home cinema. It was quite a bit of work sorting out the foundations but well worth it for the final result.

NB Two people could put this together in a few days though we elected to have it erected when delivered (at additional cost)

Feel free to ask any questions!

I personally think tuin look better value.I've got one just under 30sq metres similar to this I guess.comes with double glazed French doors and 3 point opening Windows cost me £3500 delivered.built it in 2 days with an additional 2 days to shingle the roof with the help of an eleven and forteen year-old .looks daunting when it all turns up but if you follow the basic plans provided ,its not that hard really.even if you don't think tuin deco is for you there's a lot of handy information Free and available on their site.I found it helpful when checking the many sites out there for what type of wood ,what different cuts of wood are used to make the cabins ,what paint or stain to use, insulating your cabin ,lots of things I wouldn't of thought of before .mine by the way is I think 48mm single skin .I insulated it with 100mm celotex floor and roof this cost me an additional 500 quid just to purchase so bare that in mind .also cost me 800 to do the concrete base myself this included hire of concrete pump truck to save the slog of carting it a down my garden in a wheel barrow before it went off .also most log cabins will require a floor of some description as most proper cabins don't come with one unlike a shed.

Might be useful to state that it's 26x14 FEET or just put 26' x 14' in the title ?

At that size, it's possible to live in it, as there's flats around that size for goodness sake, and it's called a shed.
Look on ebay and you can buy a house in a European village for less money....... not luxurious, but quite liveable.

For another £2436.30 they will put it up for you, but I think that's a bit steep myself. You could Probably get a local builder to to put it up cheaper than that, if you don't fancy having a crack at it yourself.

My 44mm cabin cost £1200 to put together including the concrete base. And it's 15 x 10 so the price quoted is a bit high if it doesn't include the base. Definitely worth getting a pro in to do it as it's not really a one person job anyway. Make the wrong cut and you have had it!

6 Sep 16 #36
Yes, Dunster House prices do look very good...until you spec all the extras, like a better quality roof, a floor, any double glazing options. I was going to order a Vanguard from them, but by the time I specced it up the price had gone from £3300 to £5200. Admittedly, that was adding extras like internal wall & door, plus roof shingles, but even so the headline prices shift dramatically when you start to add anything on. I would also check out their feedback online (not on their site) before buying. A mate just purchased from Tuin and is delighted with the service all the way through and also the end product. I have ordered from a local company in Essex, still got a few weeks until delivery.

What do you mean ''obviously'' ? Just because it's obvious to some people, doesn't mean it's obvious to most people - have you done any studies or surveys to know what is obvious, and to how many people ?

I am old enough to remember when everything was in pounds and ounces, feet and inches, shillings etc, so as I did not go to school when the metric system was in force, I still have trouble visualising exactly what sizes or quantities look like when in metric units - that is why when I saw the title, I had to stop and think just how large it would be if in metric measurements, so I could understand how much room would be needed.

Perhaps to people who have bought a shed or are thinking about it, it will be very obvious, or even to people who work with measurements regularly it will be obvious, but for many of us who have very different lifestyles or jobs it needs a bit of time to think about exactly how big it would be whether in feet yards or metres.
I posted a comment about being able to buy a house in Europe for the same money, and someone asked where - I would have thought that was fairly obvious, especially to anyone who has visited the region or has thought about buying cheaper property on ebay or other property site.......... but it does not mean everybody ought to know. There are actually several regions or countries, depending on what sort of standards or locations you want, but that wasn't my point.
I used to do a bit of teaching, and I remember one of the most important things I was told when training, was to ensure that as many people (preferably everyone) as possible understood exactly what you wanted them to do, or what it was you were trying to teach them - it was all too easy to fall into the trap of thinking just because the teacher and a few students understood instantly, that everyone would know.
Anyway, you've presumably made your mind up that because you are so clever as to grasp what was meant instantly, then everyone else should as well - it's rather true what a few people have said in different comments over the past year or so, that this site is not what it used to be.

You didn't need to go on as much as that. Surely you could tell Scott is young, he has no idea how to construct a sentence, how to start a sentence ( ie: no capital letters), says oppose instead of opposed, uses two questions marks - one suffices!
As for 'Get a grip!!!' again one exclamation mark suffices. :stuck_out_tongue:
Don't take offence, I just couldn't resist.

Oh, and the Deal? Crap! You can buy far better quality for less than this. B&Q are fine for some things, not this. Have you seen their sheds? A gust of wind and it's gone! Go direct to the proper suppliers.

There was an item on the local news the other day about a builder being ordered to tear down the "tree house" he built for his kids, in reality a garden shed on a 1m heigh platform. The reasons given were it was over 2.5m high and also that it was less than 2m from the boundary.

It was eurovudas http://www.mediniainameliai.lt/sodo-nameliai/medinis-namelis-Brighton-3x3m-9m%C2%B2-34mm?filter=17 I did enquire but the postage, bought it up to the same prices as elbec so we went with Elbec in the end and bought the Glenmore. We built ourselves but took two of us two full days, protecting each piece with preserver before building - tedious task. Would probably get it erected if we ever got another. If I was going for deal posted by op I would def get someone else to erect unless I was retired and had time on my hands but if you work and have kids I imagine this one is a month to build squeezed in every spare moment!

I am a joiner , built 2 houses now and quite a few real sheds/workshops , I can tell you now for £4500 you can build this yourself with far better materials and will last for 25 years plus . A better design is 4x2 studs with a timber clad of choice and insulated walls and roof .

There are some restrictions such as proximity to a road and to your neighbours property, maximum height etc. - these are different dependent on your local authority - check their web site for the exact details.
Sandman66
8 Sep 16 #89
If you google Brentwood Garden Centre you will find the place. Tbh, it's not cheap (costs slightly more than a lot of places), but I was able to tell them exactly what I was after and have the building made to my exact specification. As I said, I haven't taken delivery yet, so can't comment on the end product, but I have no concerns as they are local and have a good rep. Another place to look at is Wrights Sheds down the A127 if you want something built to order. Good luck with whoever you decide to go with.

rd3d2. we're looking at this project now as my son is geting older. the overall dimensions would have been perfect for a 7x3.5 pool table in the larger room, but the porch type entrance gets in the way. Do you recall if it would have been a pain to bring the door out so it was flush with the front wall of the building? thanks

from what I've read as long as it is less than 30m2 and doesnt add more than 30% of tbe original size of the dwelling vs the plot you wont need planning. There are other rules that relate to distance from boundary, combustibility and apex height. It's complex and important enough to check it out yourself.
