My sisters dog is only allowed this food (3/4 of a can a day) after a bout of pancreatitis so this is a great deal. Thanks for posting.

omg people are so quick to judge. chappie is actually brilliant for dogs with sensitive digestion and until vets came up with tins of gastro food like purina at £2 tin, they recommended this. I know of several dogs who actually have a settled tum on this.
my dog doesn't eat this but did when she went through a spell of an upset tummy. I wouldn't hesitate feeding her this, thanks for posting OP.

If anybody does have a dog with a sensitive stomach and is looking for another wet food to try. You could try this as well Denes Dog Food Adult Tripe Mix Rich in Turkey. Apparently there aren't any cereals in the Turkey flavour.

We used this for our last dog when she started getting older and she'd fart like a trooper, they were that bad I could have bottled them and send them to people who I didn't like :wink:, I put her on the chappie and everything settled, we had her for fourteen years so it didn't do her any harm.

We had a dog who had Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency and she was on chappie due to the low fat content and was good because she had to have pancreatic enzymes added to her food to help digest,this food was a lifesaver and got her back into top condition after being first diagnosed.At least its not full of a lot of the artificial colours and e numbers like a lot of the dog food now.

Best food available for dogs with Colitis etc. Our vet recommend it and results were amazing, so the negative comments on this post come from posters who really haven't got a clue about this product.

This stuff IS poor quality dog food. BUT, some dogs do well on it, particularly those with pancreatic/colitis issues or sensitive stomachs. Despite it containing lots of cereal and meat & animal derivatives (which are common in cheap, low quality foods), it's low fat content, also low protein and high carb content, is a mixture that works very well for some dogs.
For comparison:
Chappie
Ingredients: Fish and fish derivatives (min 14% white fish), cereals (min 4%), meat and animal derivatives (min 4% chicken), oils, fats, herbs, minerals. (18% meat)
Butchers Tripe Mix
Ingredients: Meat & animal derivatives (49%, of which tripe 28%, fresh 66%), Minerals. (49% meat)
chappie is great stuff, was the only thing my dog who suffered from colitis could eat, tried loads of far more expensive brands but chappie kept him healthy for years.

Absolutely, coz love is the only thing guaranteed to take away the stomach cramps and associated pain when feeding a dog food that is no good for it. Lots of dogs are fed daily the crap that caused pain. But that's all right because it's cheap, right? If i save money on dog food, i can spend more on other stuff for me. But it's all right coz i really love my dog! Not saying this dog food is bad for all dogs, for some it's OK. If my dog would not eat anything i gave him, i would consider it. But i would be mindful that it could be bad for him, and how would i know if he's in pain or not? Too many people think about how they can feed their dog the cheapest food so they can spend more on the non essential things on themselves, like cigarettes, junk food and alcohol etc. If i cut back on the cost of looking after my dog, then i can have that car i can't otherwise afford or whatever. How many people think they are great owners because they really love their dogs, yet are completely oblivious to how the dog is actually feeling? Right, as soon as mongsville opens, i mean asda, i'm off to buy some of this while it's on offer so i can have enough money left over for a kebab. After all, i have to put my needs first. I can't be feeding the little git expensive food. Only kidding! i feed my dogs other stuff, but like i say, i would consider this despite it's bad rating. Only if desperate though.

actually - being serious here - if you (say) gave your normal-eating dog Chappie maybe once every 4 days, it wouldn't be a bad thing

Totally with you too. I have 2 collie/ labs who love this mixed in with their IAMS. For some reason when Chappie is mentioned on here everyone seems to be outraged & kick off!! But, have they actually let their beloved animals try it? Recommended by Vets!! Great find, thank you. Lots of suppossed higher end meats give them reslly bad wind &/or upset tummies. So thumbs up from my 2!!

How far we've came, bowing down to consumerism! Dogs are carnivores, scavengers and left to their own devices, they'd eat anything that moved. As a child, I could remember going to the butchers, (in the days before the dog food became a status symbol) for 'lights' and bones. Basically, everything the butcher dug out of his waste bin and stuff unfit for human consumption. Dogs were healthier then, the correct weight and treated as loving members of the household, however, they had their correct place in the pecking order of the food chain. Buy what you can honestly afford and leave the dog food "snobbery" to the gullible ones who buy into the manufactures hype and consumerism to extort as much money as possible out of them!!! Fools and their money. A dogs love is unconditional, any food served up with love and kindness is the flavour of the day. Xx
