I'm not a big fan of these console deals that push the boundaries back up to the £300 mark, but I have to make an exception for this one.
You get...
- 1TB Xbox One S Battlefield 1 Special Edition console
- Battlefield™ 1 Early Enlister Deluxe Edition
- 1 Month's EA Access
*Includes a full game download of Battlefield™ 1 Early Enlister Deluxe Edition, which allows you to start playing on October 18, the Hellfighter Pack, Red Baron Pack, Lawrence of Arabia Pack, a new visual appearance of the Behemoths, and five Battlepacks.

Ah, so it comes in black as well. That is a relief as I thought that it was just white.
If this was about £240 for the 500GB plus BF1 I might be tempted - if the loud clicking fan had been sorted but, alas, I think I will wait until they start putting a decent, quality silent fan in these things. Too many people complaining online about how noisy their Xbox S fan is.

Just a heads up that the white 500GB comes with the standard copy of the game, not the deluxe edition. May not matter to some, but just in case you missed it dude.
I really enjoyed the beta, got to about level 32 or something, so spent a decent amount of time on it. What didn't you like?
Same as all the BF games though, you need a good squad and the beta was full of numpties who sat on rocks sniping; or had no idea what the squad leader should do with the R1 button.

How does the new controller S compare with the Elite controller?
Anyone used both?
I got the Elite console recently due to the price drops. Although I love the weight of the controller & the diamond grip. I find the paddles are a faff for my style of FPS play (i.e White knuckle grip) & I tend to just stick with the default thumsticks and settings after a bit of experimenting.
Nothing worse than pulling out your defibs by mistake in BF4 in a head to head encounter... Removes paddles!
Seeing as I can get the grip on the S controller alongside the additional benefits, I'd welcome anyones opinions on this.
Also, another vote for the Green here. I think it looks nicer than the white (the reason I went with the Elite).
White tech just gives me too many flashbacks to horriblle sounding Alba midi Hi-Fi's from the mid 80's...

The standard X One doesn't have 4k blu ray, 4k streaming, HDR, built in power supply, the Bluetooth controller and this has a gorgeous form factor as well as the standard slim revisions like less power consumption.

Well, I bought an "S" version controller and have just sold it. I thought it would be nice to have the updated controller with the additions, but, I felt it had some issues. The grip on the S model, to me, is rubbish. Once you've used the textured rubber grip on the elite (or the partial rubber grip on the Lunar White controller), it's just not a nice feeling. It's a very simple hard dotted plastic.
The other thing I disliked, was the Xbox button. Yes, the light is dimmer and better than the previous controllers, but, trying to double-tap it to bring up the side menu is frustrating as, it took a few goes before it worked. It's very hit and miss, and you have to be a bit more precise with how you press it. Another gripe, was the feel of the middle option/back buttons as, they made them tougher and stick out more. This is a very personal preference, but, I really liked the feel of them on the older controllers. The only other minor issue is (I may be wrong here), the sticks felt slightly stiffer than previous controllers. And btw, the Elite's sticks are beautifully smooth.
Apart from that, the shoulder buttons are pretty solid, the bluetooth ability is a nice addition for PC and the overall look is quite nice. Anyway, that's just my humble opinion!

Had no trouble finding a well populated game.
Same goes for BF4. I see it mentioned all the time that its a ghost town on last gen, but that's never been my experience. I play it pretty much nightly.

13 Sep 16#74
First, if you use quidco, you get £15 in cashback by using the Microsoft store, making it £285. A small incentive? Otherwise, get the white one and it's £235 with the same Quidco cashback. And you could sell the game for a tidy sum to make it an even better deal.
As for Scorpio, if Phil Spencer talks about a true 4K experience, I'm willing to believe him. What he's been saying about a number of things seems to pan out these days. Also, 4K games don't have to have cutting edge graphics, so, there's that to think about, too.

It may have less lag as you say, I can't say as I haven't used both, but I do know that it can't be because of bluetooth - the controller doesn't connect to the console by bluetooth, that feature was added for PC connections. I think that the console doesn't have bluetooth at all, but I can say for sure that it definitely doesn't support connecting to the controller by bluetooth at this time. First party source here https://support.xbox.com/en-GB/xbox-on-windows/accessories/connect-and-troubleshoot-xbox-one-bluetooth-issues-windows-10
I'm not trying to pick on you, I'm just in the same position as the person who originally asked for the comparison, and whether there is a difference in input lag is worth investigating...

Honestly, I never noticed any difference when using it. And you're right, the Xbox One doesn't use bluetooth for its controllers. If you watch Ben Hecks teardown, you'll see it doesn't have a bluetooth controller inside for controllers, but a wifi module, instead. This may be wishful thinking.
phoenix029
22 Sep 16#97
I'd personally say that if Normal controller was a 1 and wired was a 10 this would be about 3/4 but then if you can't notice a difference when wired its all a bit pointless really.
imdurc
22 Sep 16#98
The reason I said it might be wishful thinking, is due to usually playing on my PC gaming monitor with both old and new controllers. If I can't see the difference on a 1ms gaming monitor, I'd wager that the "S" controller doesn't have an advantage over the previous design. If it did, I have no doubt Microsoft would be plugging that till the cows come home. What a feature for gamers, right?
Anyway, if you still think it's better, make a slow motion video of both being used and compare the timing. That's the only true way of knowing. If it is faster, that would get you some great views on Youtube!

Honestly I've been diligently chasing the same thing myself over the past week or so, as I have some GAME credit I would like to spend (can't use it for preorders, but can buy it on the day of release).
Emailed GAME to say 'look, Microsoft have listed it correctly, and here's the release date announcement showing the correct date. What you've listed doesn't make any sense, please explain'
Got a reply saying So I called MS to confirm with them if they are releasing on the 13th, they said yes... asked if they are supplying to other retailers to release on the same date, didn't get a clear answer and was too exasperated to press.
So went back to GAME and said as politely as I could 'please ask someone who can confirm it, tell them that it's not inconsequential, one of the biggest games of the year and you're releasing it more than a week late'
Different person replied but still got the same good for nothing "as far as I know" reply Seemed to me like they weren't gonna double check themselves no matter how much I pressed so figured I'm just wasting my time with stupid GAME, just gotta order from MS even if it costs more. :disappointed:
I spent all that time trying to find a simple truth and nobody at the other end is prepared to double check and confirm it...
Yeah basically, just the box, controller and leads for trade in.
PrinceRules64
28 Sep 16#102
Ok, I'm not going to compare the value of this to other bundles at the moment, but if you're looking for this one specifically I may have some good news. As if GAME's 8-day-late release ("as far as I know" ugh) wasn't bad enough, Microsoft sent me an email today with a new offer. I can't find it mentioned on the microsoft store itself (because it's a disgraceful mess of misinformation, listing the terms for some discount which is not visible and saying on one page that customised controller is available but not on the next) breathe... but I got an email saying (in short) that you can get £30 back in points (for use on XBL I guess) if you buy a new X1. It took me a while to confirm how much 50k points is worth but here's the first party source: https://rewards.xbox.com/faq/ Scroll down to "Getting and using Rewards Credits" and then expand "What is the monetary value of Rewards Credits?" which reads "5,000 Rewards Credits are equal to £3."
Edit: I found the full terms and conditions, which is full of the usual completely unacceptable BS which we all have to accept because monopoloy power, ho! Also note that it says Select Rewards Gold members can receive the offer, and ambiguously it seems the Credits may be tied to the code... so I would not recommend speculatively buying and hoping you get the Credits if you didn't receive this email too. https://rewards.xbox.com/console-gold-upgrade-offer/terms-and-conditions/

Very tempted by this.
TCB £15 ends shortly.Cannot see the controllers being sold on their own like other limited editions which is a shame and also bear in mind if you make a warranty claim down the line you may end up with a different colour console or controller but that has not stopped me before with these editions, i think the Green looks well.Reminds me of the 360 Halo edition from many moons ago.

I was probably the only person in the world that preferred "The Duke" on the original Xbox, as comically big as that looked. And I'm not just saying that for hardman points...
Had no trouble finding a well populated game.
Same goes for BF4. I see it mentioned all the time that its a ghost town on last gen, but that's never been my experience. I play it pretty much nightly.
My only guess is that people aren't using the server browser.
Avoid going via quickmatch on the 360 & you're flying...
As for Scorpio, if Phil Spencer talks about a true 4K experience, I'm willing to believe him. What he's been saying about a number of things seems to pan out these days. Also, 4K games don't have to have cutting edge graphics, so, there's that to think about, too.
Get that fffffff outta here.
Was tempted last night after seeing this "deluxe" version which turns out only has early enlister and a few worthless skins and the like.
Why would they not include the premium version with all future maps?
This sucks.
I'm not trying to pick on you, I'm just in the same position as the person who originally asked for the comparison, and whether there is a difference in input lag is worth investigating...
£110 is a disgrace.
Just seen the premium upgrade for £39.99 at game, if this is classed as software then quidco give 10% cashback.
Laughable.
Sell it on gumtree for £159
Anyway, if you still think it's better, make a slow motion video of both being used and compare the timing. That's the only true way of knowing. If it is faster, that would get you some great views on Youtube!
I spent all that time trying to find a simple truth and nobody at the other end is prepared to double check and confirm it...
p.s. here's the release date announcement which gives credence to MS' listing https://news.xbox.com/2016/09/12/xbox-one-s-battlefield-1-bundles/
