I'm always more worried about the security of the device if you leave open ports exposed as hackers could not only gain access to the camera but your home network. Some cameras use an outgoing connection rather than incoming which increases the security a little bit makes you dependant on the provider staying in business or keeping their servers running.

I bought a cheap Wanscam (?) Camera to put in the conservatory so I can watch my garden from work (sad escapism I know). The camera kept pointing into the house despite me not having accessed it. I'd changed the default password and updated the firmware. This stopped happening when I closed the port. Coincidence or something more sinister? Just a word of advice!

Security on all of these devices is weak, so can be hacked without any kind of real hacking, simple software widely available that sniffs IP address ranges for ip cameras.

Just my two penneth but I've bought a number of Foscams both in and outdoor in the past and while they're reliable enough and easy to use, the picture quality hasn't been close to the Hikvision dome/ bullet. A bit more expensive but not massively (got mine from Aliexpress) and well worth the extra money. I ended up switching the lot out over time.

Thinks it was the HIKVISION DS-2CD2032 series if anyone wants to look into it.

Wouldn't touch the company with a bargepole now. I purchased one of the cameras last night but their crazy app mixed my billing address with my work delivery address so i contacted one of their reps on live chat about it this morning. He said he couldnt change the address so i said i would just see if it turned up........i then received an email stating they were refunding me so i tried to log back into my groupon account and my account doesn't exist any longer! Totally surreal so will never bother using them again.

Just been in touch with their reps again and my account doesn't exist yet they have taken the money from me!

If anyone receives an indoor one, can you tell me if it allows the night vision to be turned off?

these chinese IP cameras are absolute junk

1080 it needs to be 720 is really poor quality

Looking for a pan/tilt camera that I can put in my living room to watch my dog while I'm at work.

Any recommendations? Happy with 720p, night vision would be a bonus. Something cheap but good and relatively easy to install.

Received my Q2 this morning - very happy with it so far. Setup was a lot easier than many WiFi gadgets and the manual is very good. Picture quality is far better than i expected. ​

ITYF that the "LED off" option in the app's settings simply turns off the constant green light on front of the unit. That's the case with my Q2 unit anyway. The manual says this is so the unit "is more discreet". Can't imagine what situations you'd want that for...... :wink:

I'm really liking the Q2. So much so that I wanted to buy another one but they aren't available anymore. Do Groupon bring back offers like this?

I'm using the Android app on Moto G LTE with Android 5.1.

I found wherever I tried to launch the iThink app, the video would refresh to 30% but then the app would crash and I'd have to relaunch the app. It would then work properly.

I've used the free Macrodroid app to create a button on my homepage that will kill any iThink app instance running in the background and then launch a new instance of iThink. I've found this works every time.

Hope this helps anyone who has the same annoying problem.

Great camera for the price. I use mine to keep an eye on the cat asleep in the spare bedroom and the pixel resolution is good enough even to be able to read an LED alarm clock on the bedside table.

@adi0604 Have you tried doing a hard reset on the camera, using a pin in the reset hole, before signing up afresh? Not saying that'll fix your problem, but worth a try. Sounds like you need the camera to forget the WiFi settings.

Try using MeShare or Zsight

I fairly new to this sort of thing, but when I try the IP it says denied. I can only assume the camera is blocking access to 3rd party applications.

While migrating all my apps to a new Android phone, it became apparent that I've lost/forgotten the password for the iThink camera viewing app.

My old phone is still happily logged into the app and can view the camera but I can't add the camera to a new installation of the app on my new phone. It seems I don't have a security question setup, so can't reset my password without phoning CS in Vietnam. :disappointed:(

I've tried doing a hardware reset on the camera and adding it to a new installation of the app with a new username/password, but the app complains that the camera is "binded" to my old username. Seems I can't delete that bind without my old password or contacting CS. (I've emailed them FWIW, but don't expect much of a reply).

Q1: Does anyone know of any other Android apps which will connect to the Q2 camera, or do you have to use iThink's app and server?

Q2: Is there any way to migrate the logged-in app from my old phone to new, or do I have to install from scratch on the new phone and hence require the password again?

I know this is a lot of messing about for the sake of a £12 camera, but I really liked the Q2.
