I love my Bourbons and American whiskey in general. I have not had super expensive stuff but I have had a few bottles of varying brands that were around the £35.00 mark and some for as low as £11. WT 81 is one of the worst Bourbons I have bought so far. In spite of what some have said. Jim Beam white label is a much better drink and can often be had for £12.00. Better still would be the award-winning 6-year-old Western Gold from Lidl which you can get for £15.50. The best bargain brands for me though cost a bit more and I highly rate Buffalo Trace and Bulleit Bourbon. WT 101 is supposed to be pretty good but the crappy 81 has put me off ever trying it.

I think that's just you, I'd happily pay an extra £3 to get WT over Beam. But as stated Beam is full price anyway and WT is on offer so it's irrelevant.

All of those you mention in your favourites are great stand alone bourbons, I've never had the WT 101 myself but it's one I'll be sampling some day. I have a bottle of WT Rare Breed but don't plan on opening it until Xmas. The 81 is not what you could call a great bourbon though, it's worth £15 to try it but once you have if you ever saw it again at this price next to a bottle of JB at £12 you'd pick up the JB IMO, although maybe that's just me? Personally I couldn't drink either of those 2 neat.
A couple more for you to look out for, Elijah Craig, Knob Creek, Maker's Mark and Eagle Rare, all delicious. Also if you've never tried Buffalo Trace you should give that a go, it's cheaper than all of those mentioned above but is still easily drinkable on its own.

Jim Beam was £12 in my local today. I bought one of that and one Wild Turkey for £15. Excellent prices.
I'm yet to try WT but was ideally holding out for the 101 proof. I'm slowly making my way through the various bourbons as a new unhealthy additional hobby to compliment my scotch drinking. Favorites so far are Bulleit, Four Roses, Woodford Reserve. Anyway, I digress... good deal voted hot!

Jim Beam was £12 when I picked a bottle up at the weekend. I only ever drink it with coke, and since I tried WT 81 I'd only ever do the same with that

Who said anything about adding ice? And IMO WT 81 is only any good with coke, as I say, as is Beam... Might help you understand what I was saying if you actually read what I said..?

Nice with coke, rubbish on it's own though. Jim Beam currently on for £12 in Tesco so I'd get that personally as I'll only mix that with coke too.

Each to their own, I think this is fine on it's own.
Jim Beam is £17, not £12 so WT is cheaper and superior. Beam is aged 4 years, WT is 6-8. Beam is basically a supermarket standard bourbon.

Wild turkey is vastly superior to the Jim beam. Very easy to drink WT on ice.....the Jim Beam you'd have to add half a cup of water just to choke it down. Also why would you add ice to any of them.....you should be buying bells

Massive fan of Wild Turkey, but this one is so bland, good price though to dip your toe in before trying 101.
