Bought on Thursday for 12. Think the starter packs will go under 10 as they never shift
Works much better than my generic one. Coals ready in about 20 minutes

Heat. My experience of B&Q stock systems is that although it shows out of stock items may be present in stores. Sadly it worked the other way for me where items were in stock according to the data but out of stock in store.

Haha got to agree with this. Went in there some time ago for some stuff that the computer said was in stock but it wasn't to be seen in store anywhere. Asked if they could order some then, and was told no, because the computer says they have it in stock! Must have been an empty shelf for years then! You'd think after 20+ years of knowing stock control is their problem that Kingfisher might have sorted it out by now!

A blower(old Hairdryer will do) can make the charcoal starting process quicker and reliable with or without one of these,
You still need to wait till the coals settle.

My B&Q (Bury store) also had the same webber chimney starter with a package including 2KG briquettes and 6x lighter cubes for a total of £14.
Like many others on this thread, I have this chimney starter and can't fault the quality, its brilliant and gets your charcoal lit and hot very quick.

I had a generic starter, then bought the weber one. Much better quality, The coals sit on a wire grill rather than a plate with holes in it. Easier to start, faster to heat up. Well worth the extra money

I had no idea these were a thing. So its just used to light BBQ charcoal? I've always bought my coal that comes in little bags and you just light the bag, takes all of 3 seconds to get going... Would this be better?

That's a very expensive way of doing it.
I had a generic one and now have this one - my word, this is better. I don't even use firelighters now.

with this you either stuff the bottom with paper or dump a fire lighter under it, bbq ready in 20 mins, pretty much the same as the bags you buy but all the coal stays in place until you pour it into the bbq

I like mine but rarely get it started first time and that's after using it for a few years. Usually takes hold second time and that's still better/more efficient that using other methods.

No need for one of these if you have a garden blower. Mine gets the charcoal roaring in no time, so long as you can put up with the collateral damage to anyone or anything in the line of fire!

Not sure that was meant as a joke or not, but made me chuckle. I had an image of the whole house burnt down and you smiling because you got your BBQ'd wing

I actually bought one of these for the neighbour as I got sick of my house being filled with the smell of their BBQ firelighters every weekend. Anyone who uses firelighters or liquid fuel to get their BBQs going are complete nobs IMO.

We've used ours 10+ times so far and no sign of any issues, we added a few extra air holes like the Weber has but it seems solid enough.

Generic ones also available from Argos for £5 - free collection
I got this one in June, used it a few times but I will be surprised if the quality of it will last till next year. The reviews of the Weber ones say they last a few years.

Same as the homebase ones. I've got 3, handles melted on all of them and handle has fell off one because the revits melted. Worth spending the extra for something that will hopefully last. Going to see if I can get a couple of these, but my store says low stock, so not looking good.

Wait until the metal warps out of the handle & you get hot charcoal all over the floor.
wasted charcoal & a mess to clean up, for trying to save £5.
Go to B&Q look at their own brand one, then look at the weber. You will see how much better quality the weber is.

I bought a Tesco Generic one last year for £3. It was ok but the finish was like using a razor blade with hot coals in it.
Bought one of these a few weeks ago, the difference is night and day. I'll keep the generic one for something, some day but until then the Weber will do everything, with a greater capacity and with a greater level of safety.
