Perfect for grandma, who keeps telling you that text looks too small.
And I say this every time people post comments about 1080p large monitors. It's a matter of how close you sit to it. Any resolution becomes 'retina' at the right distance. People have 1080p 50" HD televisions these monitors look fine once you are sat back from them. Not everyone needs super sharp high resolution displays on their desk. Take it from an actual 1080p 27" owner, these are just fine to game, watch media and use for desktop purposes.

With it's input lag and response time you aren't going to be wanting to do much gaming on it but with actual 8-bit colours rather than the usual 6bit +FRC that most budget monitors offer colour reproduction should be decent.

Have been using this monitor for the past twelve months. General purpose, internet browsing, office work etc. Have had no problems at all. Colours are clear and bright. Large screen size excellent for watching video. Good price too. Try and find a monitor of similar spec cheaper.

Does this have a matt or gloss type screen?
I do have a preference for a gloss shiny type glass display, I find the anti reflective coatings dull the picture too much.

Get one with a higher resolution.
The max size for a 1080p is about 24", bigger than that and you lose the sharpness of the image.

i "borrowed" the Dell from work, then resigned :disappointed:
i now have another 29" 2560x1080 so the world is a better place again

I say this every time a 27" 1080p monitor turns up as a "deal". But this is a 28" so it's even worse:
1080p on 28" is 79 PPI (pixels per inch)
This is like buying a 20" laptop (even if they existed) with 1366x768. Just think how stupid that would be to use.

Think you are missing the point. Ok so I spend at least twice as much on a 2560x1440 only to find that I have to run it at a none native resolution because my GPU can't output a usable frame rate at 1440p or the other option is to turn down the graphics settings making the picture look worse.
I would be more concerned using it for desktop use than gaming.
A 1080p ultra wide is hardly any better. I'm quite a fan of 1440p ultra wide but is going to see you back the best part of £500.

also, don't most new gpu have that ultra resolution option that runs higher resolution textures on a lower res screen.
My old 7970 3gb is running 1440p on a 1080 screen. The difference is pretty noticeable on image sharpness.
But this feature has put me off wanting to jump to a 1440p screen if I can mimic it. I'd rather wait for the tech of 4k being affordable down the line and make a much larger jump when I get back into pc gaming.
My card can't run 4k due to old tech, so locked at 1440p with this.

Yes if your GPU supports it it will help. The same issue arises in being able to process the game at that resolution. For many AAA titles this won't be possible. But for many playing things like DOTA2 or WoW then this is a good option.

Just received my monitor and it is FAB... It comes with VGA cable and HDMI to mini USB and uk and foreign powerleads. It is really great ... Just got it for the office, but it is great
