Cold. Jarred sauces are full crap, and with something as easy as chilli there's no excuse for not making your own. Cost pennies too

Edit: I know people may disagree with me voting cold for that reason, but I'm gonna say now that I don't care.

At least we can actually see the item in a shop , unlike every single supermarket copy & paste post you do. You are so catty with other peoples deals and feel you have to break out the CAP LOCKS .

I'm a lazy git, so I buy jars of sauce all the time. I wouldn't buy ones this cheap though

FAIL! Thats not a jar of sauce thats a tin of pre made "chilli"

I think I paid something like 26p before for this and seemed fine. Added extra heat with chilli powder but apart from that very nice. Tend to use turkey mince rather than beef mince and makes a very nice chilli. Prefer uncle ben's though. Do often make my own chilli for scratch but buy the jars occasionally.

​I was just being a dick. I agree with you, people not making their own chilli are too lazy for words and missing out on a whole load of flavour!

Out of interest what spices do you use? Seen many recipes, and love a good chilli, but I still often use a jar as a base and add extra tomatoes and mixed beans then chipotle / chocolate / lime (very little!) to taste. Never made one completely from scratch, always used a pre-mixed blend in a packet!

Chilli powder obviously, salt, pepper, chipotle or ancho chilli if you have them, paprika, cinamon. Sometimes I add a spoon of sugar some chocolate or cold coffee but I'm undecided if they improve the flavour. I like to add fresh chilli too and a bit of fresh corriander on top when serving. A dollop of sour cream or if I've non in I use yoghurt or cheese.

No cumin for me. I like cumin but I associate it with Indian food. Feels weird putting it in my Thai curry Paste Even Though it Works Good. Do you recommend cumin in chilli? I will try it next time I'm make a chilli. Did a bit of reading and seems it is very popular in Mexican cooking even if it is more of a tex-mex thing like chilli con carne is

Chilli Texan Come Dine With Me

Serves 5 (starter sizes)
Ingredients
2 tbsp oil
400g stewing beef, diced
1 onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, chopped
½ tsp Cajun spices
2 tbsp chilli powder
1 tbsp ground cumin
½ tsp dark brown sugar
1 tsp cayenne
2 x 400g cans chopped tomatoes
400g cans kidney beans, drained
For the fixins
1 packet cream crackers
Handful grated cheese
Chopped coriander
Method
Heat the oil in a large pot and brown the beef.
Add the onion, garlic, Cajun spices, chilli powder, cumin, brown sugar and cayenne pepper.
Stir well then add the tomatoes and 400ml water.
Simmer for 2 hours, stirring occasionally (slow cooker).
Add the kidney beans and simmer for a further 30 minutes.
For the fixins, crush up the crackers and mix with the cheese and coriander.
Spoon the chilli into serving bowls and top with the fixins before serving.
