They don't work at all unfortunately, I bought 2 when they were on offer last year and they never stopped the condensation on the windows and the cartridge lasted 2 days.

Surely the cartridge will only last a length of time based on how much dampness is in the room, so in your case was the device simply overwhelmed by too much moisture to work effectively ?
I bought one of these a couple of days ago and already there is about an egg cup of liquid in the bottom, so time will tell if it works well or not - it was bought in order to do the job without running up a huge electricity bill, so more comments from other users would be great, as well as reports from those who have used alternatives.
The original factory shop advertise these at a tenner online, but it was only £8 instore with the refills a fiver, so I just bought the one to try

Unfortunately they don't stop all the condensation no...but if you have it that bad i'm afraid you have bigger problems as it works on what i have which is not a lot and the room smells so much better....

If yours lasted only 2 days before running out then I think the condensation problem you have is slightly outside the capability of this device. Somewhat putting a plaster on a severed limb...!
I use one on the bathroom as I had a tiny bit of mold appear and since using one of these its not returned, it lasts about 4 weeks.
On the flip side, if I use one in my on-suite which has no window the cartridge lasts a few days and its useless.

People only see the blue water in the container and assume it makes a difference.
No, it does not, give the slow absorption rate.
Absorb 1L of water from air in 1 to 3 months in a room, will have no real effect at all to the humidity.
I still have 11 of the container and few packs of tablets. They are a waste of money. I stopped using them quite some time now.

I was given these to trial for free when they first came out, unfortunately they are no better than the cheap ones you get in poundland and the like. Before I opened it I assumed it was battery powered to circulate the air in some way, but it's not, so really no extra benefit.

These are great for what they're intended for - small spaces, not whole rooms. I have one in our walk in larder, and it has stopped the damp food problems in there, and the same for our shoe storage cupboard. The cartridges last about two months in these areas.

There was no damp and the tiniest bit of condensation at the bottom of the window, its only my opinion but personally I don't think they work. Each to their own though.

These are fantastic. Had small damp area on bathroom ceiling and since using this it has not appeared again for years. Each refill lasts about two months. Well worth the full price never mind £4. Box of two refills normally around £5.

I totally agree I have same experience. Cartridge last couple of days only as compared to what mentioned in the box i.e. 30 days. Waste of money.

I have one in the camper van just to keep any condensation at bay, works well enough for the small area it has to cover. Cartridge normally lasts a couple of months, unfortunately the unit was placed in the garage whilst away and the block disappeared quickly.

Bought several of these when they were £1 at Amazon. They work perfectly well for smaller areas like my car and kitchen cupboard. It says up to 10sqm but that is a bit generous to say the least, I guess unless it is a near airtight room.

I'm another who don't think these work. I bought some cheap. I have a humidity meter in the room and it made not a jot of difference. The liquid in the bottom of the container just seemed to be the disintegrated block.

I have a re-usable thing I bought from Wilko in my caravan. Think it cost about £2. You put a layer of absorbent crystals in and these turn to liquid as they trap the moisture. Refill bag costs about £2 also and lasts quite a while depending on size of room, etc.

I bought one of these awhile ago and yes over time it did collect water so was doing something, but I would not recommend buying one.
The question is, why do you need it and are you trying to mask the problem with this, when the problem will still exist. In my case the render on the outside wall had blown, causing moisture to come in through the walls. Therefore no matter how many of these I had tried to line up the moisture is still going to come in. Since getting that fixed, no dampness/condensation in the house and therefore no need for items like this.
So long story short, in my view save your £4 and put it towards fixing the cause of the dampness/condensation.

Homes naturally create moisture from the people and animals living in it and all the washing, cooking etc not to mention the natural atmosphere so yes they do work unless you're perfect and wipe down the bathroom after every bath/shower and have an extractor that leads directly outside the building as well as everyone Inc animals wears gortex clothing from top to bottom and you leave those items outside whilst not wearing them....
These do what salt and rice do naturally, absorb moisture from the surrounding area and do it very well if the levels aren't too high!

Had two of these and they were pretty useless. Didn't stop the mould/damp at all. Shelled out about £150 on a proper dehumidifier and it cleaned it up straight away. So although this is cheap it doesn't work great.

No I didnt have a problem, no mould and only a tiny bit of condensation on one window in the very cold months.the reason it only lasted 2 days is that the cartridge just disintegrates.

I've used these and been really happy with the results. I guess a lot depends on the humidity level and the size of the room.

Despite what the blurb from B&Q states, about this being for a medium sized room, the box clearly says on the bottom left corner that it's for large rooms up to 20 sq mtrs, although I cannot see anything on the box about how many ml it is supposed to absorb - my small poundshop things state 500ml on them, so it would be good to do a comparison on value for money.
