It works well, which is to say scarifying is a miserable task where you walk 2 feet empty the bag, walk two feet again empty the bag and repeat for 4hr. Then you look at your work put your head in your hands and ask what you've done to your lawn since it'll look like someone has been doing a tractor pull on it.

Excellent. I pay this much for GreenThumb to scarify my lawns once a year and this also has a rake function which will save me from doing it by hand twice a year.

Seems like a good price, but does this actually aerate, as per the OP's original post?

Bought one to collect from my local store as they had one in stock so no P&P to pay. Only downside was I couldn't get the £5 off code to work.

Lawn rakers are great but very frustrating. You have to empty the collection box about every 10 foot of lawn.

The description on Screwfix states it aerates. Blades for aerating and tines for raking. I have just purchased, many thanks to OP.

Thanks Op I was about to pay GreenThumb to scarify my dead lawn.Hope this has the aeration feature as it states.

​Thanks. Just noticed Screwfix have the manual on their site as a PDF. It seems by 'raking' they do mean aerating. However the tines look like 2" needles that **** the lawn rather than the more substantial hollow tines that extract plugs of soil found on more expensive products. Still seems like a good deal for the price, however.

Thanks for that. Looked up manual after you said and I think some manufacturers are making stuff up. It's so confusing. As far as I'm concerned raking is not aerating...it is raking!

Copied the below from manual...

2). When used as a scarifier, this product works by
scratching through and between the grass with specially
adapted prongs that collect and remove any unwanted parts
from the lawn whilst leaving the grass blades intact. At the
same time the product scarifies the ground resulting in a
better airing.
3). When used as a raker, the fine needles will scratch the
surface of the lawn while simultaneously picking light debris
for better oxygen absorption, airing and draining.

This seems to be the opposite of other 2 in 1 manufacturers who seem to say the tines do the raking and the blades do the scratching. The Black &Decker one I am returning to Amazon tomorrow only has tines and its full name is Black + Decker GD300 30cm Lawnraker...tines do the raking.
