Does this guarantee you anything they have online, or is it just if the item is in the store anyway?

Pretty sure they did this for past month if ordered by 1pm

Tesco need to offer contactless payment in ALL stores outside London ASAP they are losing money daily due to this.

How? Not asking to be a dick, I genuinely am interested in this.

As far as I know if you order via click and collect and Tesco do not have the item in stock they will supply an equal or a more EXPENSIVE alternative at the same price, handy if you know what they have in stock.

They dont though.... last time they didnt have things in stock they give me replacements at full price and less of them!!!
Really going off tesco these days. They throw your shopping about too so many things damaged and i dont realise until i go to eat them to find they are stale! Even when miles still in date.
Once i ordered a pack of 3 peppers opened them up and the middle one was moldy!!! Wtf?

Ive been doing this for ages. I usually order on a monday morning in work at 1pm and pick it up from 4pm in store.

Hi
• Simple 'time in motion study' would show contactless is far far quicker.
• Due to quicker transactions this would lead to less queuing time more profit and overall happier customer satisfaction.
• A lot of transactions are under £30.00 but retailer can increase this at their discretion (for apple pay) ie Nandos
cheers

But if no one leaves the queue then they won't lose any money will they?. The shop is open anyway, paying for all associated costs regardless of it taking 30 seconds or 10 seconds to process the payment.

is no one else charged for click and collect? Recently changed at my store, had assumed UK wide but maybe its just NI. it's now usually cheaper for me to have my shopping delivered that it is to collect! Prices range from £1 to £3.
This is the blurb explaining the service charges:
About service charge
Why is there a service charge?
Once you've placed your grocery order online there's a lot of work that goes on behind the scenes to get your shopping to you. The time it takes, the technology and equipment we use, and the team of people we employ to make this extra service possible, means we have to make a reasonable charge to you. There's your personal shopper who hand picks every item according to your instructions; our refrigerated van and customer delivery assistant taking your groceries to your door; and all the other running costs such as the website and our customer service centre. When you consider all that, we hope you'll agree our online grocery service charge actually delivers good value.
Why do different time slots have different prices?
Popular slot tend to fill up very quickly & our charges vary across the week to reflect their popularity. Peaks in demand also mean more vans on the road at busy times of the day. Our cheaper timeslots aim to spread out the deliveries and fill each van to capacity so that we're more efficient to our customers and the environment.

Yeah its seconds faster... you still have to get everything scanned and bagged. Chip and pin is not slow by any means unless youre semi retarded
Dj CUE
22 Aug 161#19
It is massively quicker and would save money but I don't think they lose too much from it. They would save due to it being quicker and less staff required to do the same amount of transactions.

Only people with stolen cards want to see chip and pin in every store.

Probably signed up to their delivery saver. If you have a weekly shop with Tesco and sign up to their yearly plan, you could save a lot of money. I have.
Edit: I forgot to say I used their same day delivery a few Saturdays back, I noticed I could have a order delivered that evening (to my surprise) so I went ahead and ordered. Everything was delivered and for "free" due to Tesco delivery saver.

this is really odd, my nearest store, March, has been doing this for at least 3 months. It's not on the list above and I thought maybe I was mistaken but I've just checked and yes, I can order now for a 4-7pm collection for a £2 charge (I don't have a plan). If you think you'd use this and your store isn't on the list it might be worth double checking?

People will shop else where due to dissatisfaction. I have seen many leave 'the' queue fed up, I have done myself.
Ironically enough my local Tesco's got contactless today, the new terminals were updated last night while the store was closed.
The staff are very happy, one staff today said they had been asked about contactless ALL the time. So even the staff will be happier now.....as well as the customers and (Tesco shareholders).
Opening post
Ideal for picking up on the way home from work or no waiting for next day.
I've just booked to pick up at 7pm
Note excludes same day on Sunday
