I was just stating a fact. Perry is a cider type drink made from pears. Cider is an alcoholic brew made from cider apples. Pear cider is a made up word and it could easily be called "sdfnsdfihkjfdgfbregisdfbgfigbfdi but it would still be perry and not cider. If you made a pork pie from beef, it would not be a pork pie. If you make cider from anything other than apples, it just isn't cider.
If someone made a beef pie using pork pie pastry and in the general style of a traditional pork pie it would make sense to call it a beef pork pie. It makes no sense but it is allowed due to familiarity, a bit like turkey ham.
Also, pear cider (cider made from pears, not hard to grasp.) is not the same as perry.

I'm not the person who started with trying to say what it is. I simply replied to someone who had got it wrong about pear ciders, perries and apple ciders.
For the record, many people care about what it is. It's no different to the real ale argument. Someone might have just got into real ale after being a lager drinker for years by trying a decent real ale like Jaipur or an Admans ale.
They might see John Smiths at the supermarket being branded as a real ale, make a purchase and find out when it's too late that it is nothing like real ale.
Someone might find pear cider to be too "peary". So based on what llololloy put about Perry containing both apples and pears, they might buy something branded as a perry thinking it is a more balanced flavour, when actually pear ciders and perry are the same thing.

Who cares? You either like it or don't like it. I think pear cider is best for me. It is a matter of choice. Not bothered how they label it.

Like drinking chemicals... I'd rather have the 50g of sugar in Kopparberg or Rekorderlig, at least that makes it palatable.

You are mistaken there. "Pear Cider" is just a modern name for "Perry". Perry used to be the name given to drinks like lambrini and babycham. When Pear cider was just becoming more popular, it was called "Perry", but in order to separate it from that old name, it started being branded as "pear cider".
There are ciders with both apples and pears but those are called "apples and pears cider".
