i doubt i'll ever find a graphics card powerful enough to play this that I can actually afford ..
I asked someone a while back and they told me about one and said "and it's only about £150 quid" as well, as if £150 quid was cheap

£150 for a card is very cheap!

£150 is cheap for a capable graphics card. That's used 970 money.
I'd say £300 is the sweet spot price for a GPU.

You can pick up a new GTX 960 or R9 380 for under £130, either of them will play this game extremely well.

"Under" is a good start
Realistically, I need it to be around the £60 or £70 mark. And even then, it'd take me an age to save up for it.

This game is so poorly optimised for PC - please don't support it
If I could return my copy I would but cdkeys have a no refund policy
SLi doesn't work at all - so don't even try
When I went down to just one 980ti, the fps wasn't anything to shout about and the game crashed on a few occasions during a 2hour game session
Awful port

Running it on a 780ti half and hour ago at 1920x1080 High/Very High settings optimised by Geforce Experience. Ran at 60fps beautifully. Highly enjoyed my first 3 hours of game play.

Must be your PC, 56 hours on this 980ti @4K with zero crashes.

That is what you get with SLI, if you use it you need to take the pros with the cons as it will never ever be as stable or efficient as single card solutions and frankly it's also always a low priority for developers to really drive support for it. There are lots of PC only games that struggle with good SLI support let alone ports. I also found short of reinstalling the whole OS even disabling SLI or physically removing the card still leaves stability issues which is totally an Nvidia driver issue(and they really haven't been on the ball with drivers this year at all).
DX12 and Vulkan are going to make it a lot easier to have dual cards, but they are also capable of doing without SLI and crossfire technology so I think and personally hope the current way of doing dual cards goes the way of the dodo.

I have to agree with you here man, SLI/X-Fire as much as people rant and rave about it, is a small section of the PC market. It's not going to be universally supported, if it doesn't work and people feel the lack of SLI support is worth refunding their purchase then go for it. But I don't want people to start telling other people what to do/not to do with their cash, especially when this game is a decent port as far as they go, plenty of customisation, but not the most optimised.

The very BEST games, with the leading graphics engines, 'Frostbite, Unreal' etc, normally support SLI/Crossfire. The top developers, ensure their games work and scale well with 2 GPU's. That's my experience anyway. :sunglasses:

Lots of people seem to think that my main complaint is the lack of SLi support (but yes that is **** poor)
My main issue is the sheer number of crashes and other issues I've had with this game in a short time period
The issues I had were felt by a number of people in the community - like not even being able to load the game when you're connected to the Internet! They were common enough to find a number of forum discussions and steam reviews filled with people with the same complaints. Really wish that I read them on this occasion...
"This game is as decent a port as any of them" - seriously, it's not
I'll reserve my right to say to people - "don't buy this", simply because I have found it to be in a state that is unplayable and I don't want others to face the same problem.
Yes I am in the minority, not everyone will have the same problems, but when the issues I have faced have many forums set up taking about the issues and the developers have left customers in the dark over any future fixes (there won't be any), it must be a bigger problem than just me
My rig is fine, it plays everything on ultra @ 4K @ 50-70fps and I keep it nice and cool and overclocks stable with my custom watercooling loop. I shouldn't be running into dropped frames and crashes, or even issues loading the game due to lazy development. I don't get these problems in other games

A number of the bugs I had turned out to be fairly common - like the game not being able to load if you are connected to the Internet.
It's like a lottery sometimes - I lost.
None of my other games perform as badly as this
I was bitterly disappointed because I waited for months to play it and I thought I would love it

Would this run on a 5850 or should I just save £9.40?
