Looking for something similar that doesn't need to be linked to a smart phone constantly and has a screen. Cheap one for the kids. Anyone have any suggestions?
Had one of these for over a year and works great! Never had a problem with software n sync (even on a non-sony phone (Galaxy S5). Software certainly less buggy than Fitbit Flex which other half has! Also good you can set it up to vibrate for incoming calls and texts (plus other apps). Heat from me!

Exactly what I have this for.
For fitness/step counting etc it's a load of crap but for a simple wrist vibrate for notifications, customisable for any app so viber/whatsapp/snapchat/emails/etc I get a little wrist vibrate.
Battery lasts almost a week I find too.

Just ordered, reviews hit and miss as usual. However, worth a try for £11.99 delivered.

CEX offer a £10.00 voucher for these too, if you don't want to send it back or don't like it after trying it.

Bought one of these the last time they were on here and its rubbish, wont connect to any of my phones and when it does it doesn't count steps.
Had it since end of Feb, never had a problem with it.
Battery life is weeks and to date it reckons I've walked 1083km with an average of 9585 steps/day - so why am I still a fat ar$e lol

I had one of these the last time the deal was here. The step count was all wrong. It showed I walked 1.5 miles in my sleep.

There's a Xiaomi on here from yesterday for the same price with very good reviews, a bit less if you quidco/subscribe.

Wouldn't recommend the Miband at all.
Works well for notifications and such. Not brilliantly for step counts but not bad.
Problem is that I've had two and both have worked for 2-3 months and then stopped working.

I think Mi Bands are a bit hit-or-miss. I've had one on my wrist since October last year and it's still working 100%, no issues and the battery is still lasting about 40-odd days on a charge with notifications all on (just checked it and it's got 41% charge after 27 days) - it was about 65 days to start with. But I know another 2 people who's ones also only lasted about 3 months.

These popped up a few months ago for the same price. Bought the 1st gen MiBand instead as they were OOS. Kinda nifty for sleep and steps, nothing spectacular though.

Their own app is actually pretty good, but the additional app gives good control over notifications
