Not for everybody I know. £189.99(209.99-20) + £10 Argos Voucher+ Quidco is a reasonable price for a high end lens after a reliable Sony cash back. Pl tell me if there is any cheaper option for this lens as I was waiting for a price drop for this lens for some time.

Thanks. I would rather buy from Argos for the same price(including £10 Argos voucher) than this company. Just my personal opinion though.

Nice to see an E-mount deal but the prices have definitely gone up since I bought my gear.

I have this lens for my NEX5R, but almost never use it. On the odd occasion I do, it is great.

Not exactly what you're after but the Sigma 30mm f/2.8 DN SE for around £120 is pretty good, really sharp but no image stabilisation.

I replaced my 5DIII with a Sony A6300 + meta bones and use all my full frame Canon L glass.
I wouldn't mind having a decent Sony lens to make use of the auto focus video though.

How do you choose the color in Argos? They say that they have both silver and black in sale
brilly to kkthomask
30 Aug 161#9
no they dont, they say the lens is black and silver which it is
also you say in op its a 'high end lens' - its not, its the low end zoom - the high end is one of the 70-200, 70-300 variations
tbh seems expensive as has been much cheaper in the past but seems price been quite static this year

This has been £150 previously, at Jessops I think and I wish I got it at that price. They have just gone up in price ever since. Looks to be best price you can get it at for now though so hot deal.

Not a high end lens - as said in header.
Sigma lenses best bargains for e-mount but not so long.
Price of this has crept up.

Got this lens back in January for £129.99
I appreciate that that info is no good to you without a fully functional delorean fitted with a flux capacitor - just letting you know that these do go cheaper.
I's a great lens to use when I can be bothered to fit it (which is rarely) - good for wildlife at a distance
only thing I didn't realise when I ordered it, was that although it does have auto focus, it doesn't have auto zoom - which means you get an annoying message on the screen when you try to use the zoom toggle thing (with I do every time without thinking because it works with the stock lens!)
Apart from that it's good.

you should get used to using the barrel to change focal length, iirc there are only 2 normal lenses that actually zoom with that lever and its slow anyway

Also it makes the camera look comically long when it's at it's full extent.

Could anyone pl tell which is the best and practical second lens for A6000 in addition to the one 16-50) coming in the original kit? I am not a professional photographer eventhough enjoy quality pictures.

Must resist! Want a longer zoom but don't know how much I'd use it, the a5000 just
fits in back pocket with the stock 18-55 so its nice and portable!
Not a proper lens, but for a bit of fun on the cheap I bought this little decent quality CCTV camera lens with an adapter for NEX which gets pretty sharp in the centre and has some nice bokeh.

It depends on what you are missing. The samyang 12mm is a good cheap wide angle, or the Sony 10-18mm if you have more money. You should also get a faster prime lens for low light, i use the sigma 30mm 2.8, but the Sony 35mm and Zeiss Sony 24mm as are better if you have a larger budget

Got one from CEX last year and it was perfect. Comes with 2 year guarrantee. 1 left in stock at £105 plus few pounds postage:
Yeah, it's fine, I just used the stock lens exclusively for the first year I had the camera (as I couldn't afford any additional lenses at the time), I got a so used to that it was tricky to get used to using the barrel to change the focal length when I used the longer lens! Plus my previous 2 cameras were bridge cameras, so I was used to having the entire zoom range at the touch of a finger (with the price being a tiny sensor!)

Note that the Sigma lenses don't work properly on the A6000. They can't do continuous autofocus properly. I guess that's why they are cheap.
The sigma 30 2.8mm does work fine on the a6000, it's been my most used lens since I got my a6000. It's not able to take advantage of the full pdaf focus system but works fine. The reason it's cheap is that it's a sigma not a Sony and because it lacks oss.

Not from Amazon marketplace. If the seller is Amazon, yes.
so if i buy from amazon at £207.63, i should be ok?
also how is this lens for street photography? is the 55mm focal length just too long to be comfortable? and how is the IQ vs the stock sel1855 lens?

pretty similar quality, gets worse the longer you go though as expected
lens is big so not discreet, 55mm min depends on you but id say was too long unless doing some stalkerish zoom :man:
ofc they did... cos you said it was high end! just being realistic
noones saying its crap, just that its not high end
anyway the discussion about it seems to have been good for the deal as got way hotter than it really deserved
