I have this tv. Amazing picture quality. I spent 2 months checking before I bought it. Much better pic then lg and Samsung. Not full hdr but does have it.

same did lot of research before pressing the final button online. You said "not full hdr" what that means? Somebody told me latest firmware has implemented the HDR?
Uridium to The_Guru

Is Sony's android Implementation less **** now then?
I had one of these some months ago but forced currys to take it back as Android was a buggy steaming pile at the time, apps crashing, Freeview took an age to show a picture when changing channels, no recording, etc....
there was a huge thread complaining about the android issues here https://community.sony.co.uk/t5/televisions/2015-bravia-android-tv-issues/td-p/1949079/page/632 that suggest there are still many issues.....
Seems the latest bug is a judder on 4k input from Sky Q and BT Ultra set top boxes....
Personally I swapped mine for a lower spec 55JU6400 Samsung Tizen OS TV and it's been faultless. Image quality is comparable to the Sony (I'd be biased If I said better) and the OS and Apps are rock solid.
btw...Currys were a Ball ache to deal with from start to finish..took my Money to RicherSounds and there service was amazing as always. Manager even gave me the money for the parking meter outside the store from his own pocket.

I got the Sam to at 799 from to her sounds, awesome for the money but speakers as expected are weak
HDR is activated via a firmware update and it also has a 10 bit panel
MissiveUK to LeonCR
26 Aug 16#12
Yes, The big push for 10-bit panels is due to the advent of High Dynamic Range content. This 10-bit content can have more detail in the bright areas of the image, and/or more details in the dark parts of the image.
I've said before I've tried this tv but was not impressed by the screen at all. All down to personal taste I suppose.

If you can, try NOT to buy from Currys which always sold refurbished as new!

Fantastic TV. I agree that Richer Sounds are a far better company to deal with if you can, but with a five year warranty it's hot.
4K content from Amazon Prime looks sensational.

Have this one myself and it is full HDR, you can test on netflix with some of their own shows as it will display HDR instead of Ultra HD 4K to see if you have the latest firmware.
Have loved it since i brought it home though android may not be to everyones tastes as a tv OS.

Did lot of research and settled on this one in regards to functions and value. Bit of future proof. Not sure about Currys, can't find the new set from anywhere else within that price bracket.

Oh, if you care about 3d, mine defintely didn't come with glasses. Don't know if thats changed but i wasn't bothered as don't watch 3d

Got this tv a few years ago. Can't fault the tv but disappointed that Sony does not subscribe to itv iplayer or channel 4 Iplayer. Salesman pointed out lots of apps on the tv which sounded great in store but you don't realise until you start using it which ones are missing.

The hdr works on how bright a panel can go. It works on something called nits. The panel is bright but not as bright as the newer sony models which will support better hdr. E.g, current panel maybe 500 nits newer model 1000. Just an example. Yes there was an update via firmware for hdr but it's limited to the bright of the panel. If you try the hdr mode you will see it pushes brightness to the max. Might be contrast as well.

Thanks for sharing your experience... Yes currys is pain in the ****. Basically my requirement is 4K HDR 55 inch tv (at least future proof for few years) around 800 quid. Not bothered about 3d to be honest. I am open to cancel this order if somebody can help me in finding the right one.

Do yourself a favour and take a trip to your nearest Richer Sounds...the staff know what they are talking about, will show you TV's displaying settings other than the silly Dynamic mode Currys will be using and offer proper customer service pre and post sale.
Personally I'd take a look at this one..but as I said before I like my current Samsung this could be seen as bias http://www.richersounds.com/product/tv---all/samsung/ue55ku6400/sams-ue55ku6400

Bought the 49" version and am well impressed. Kodi installed easily, but on settings only says 1080p. It will play 4k not sure if it really is 4k! Anyone else had this problem? (Very happy with the TV by the way)
