Had its baby brother for a few weeks now and struggling to fault it. That OLED screen makes everything else seem very second rate. Touchwiz on Marshmallow is remarkably bloat free which I didn't expect. Coming from a Nexus/AOSP device, issues like buttons being the wrong way around are solvable.
Hot.

Was this price a couple of months back...the S3 is due out in a week, might be worth waiting to see the improvements (...if any), although it'll be at least £100 more than this one and may not even come in luverly gold! :smirk: ...hot price though
...and I didn't even see you get a chromecast with it...even hotter!!

Just about to post this, my PCWorld didn't have this offer displayed as they didn't have the poster but they honoured it and I bought a new tablet . However the experience of going in store was a pain as always as some snide comments about why am I not buying Anti-Virus. Apparently according to them anyone connecting to the internet must buy some, even an android tablet apparently.... Maybe they mean some sort of anti-phishing/common sense filter.
Anyway some heat for a good deal

Although the new one is being announced on 1 September, does it actually start shipping then also? I want a tab nowww
I recently bought the S2 8inch, but found it lags quite a bit. I've previously used an iPad Pro but wanted something smaller. Not massively impressive with it coming from iOS.
Screen is very pretty though, so not a total loss, but I do sometimes think I should have waited for the S3..

You can't be satisfied downgrading from an iPad Pro or even Air 2 to this.
the AMOLED screen is fantastic and its probably the best android tablet, but overall no match for the iPad.
if you wanted something smaller than the iPad Pro,iPad Mini 4 is the only option.
I've had iPad Mini 4,now osn an iPad Pro 9.7 and have handon experience with the Tab S2 8.
when it comes to tablets, nothing can beat an iPad.

This is my first Samsung also coming from Nexus. I flashed Marshmallow and disabled lots of the Samsung bloat & apps that came on the tablet. No problems with lag here. There are probably faster devices out there if you put them side by side but I don't feel like I'm ever waiting for the S2. (2015 Exynos version.)

I have Kodi with all plugins installed on my iPad Pro without any jailbreak etc
OLED screen is definitely superior,true.
but you are completely wrong in saying TAB S2 better than all iPads except Pro.it's direct competetor for 10" model is Air 2 and for 8 inch is Mini 4,on both cases iPads easily outperform the Tab S2s in every single aspect.and the battery life is a complete joke comparred to iPads.all this is documented and oroven on various benchmarks and test on internet,so no need to argue.
I'm not biased at all,and I actually fan of Samsung products and have owned Samsung flagship phones and S2 8 tablet.I admire their OLED screens but Android tablet experience is a joke comparred to iOS and thats a fact.

Yes, sorry I meant for screen mirroring, Chrome, Youtube & iPlayer work fine with Chromecast, as does streaming from my Synology server via DS Video. Can't cast screen for apps that don't have a built in cast option though, like TVPlayer.

Do ipads have USB sockets...or microSD card slots? I presume you have to shell out even more money on Apple cables to connect it to your TV? Apple are the devil, I'd never consider getting one! :smirk:

I personally think iPads are better simply cause of the more native tablet apps and not blown up mobile apps on Android.
Another thing to take into consideration here is updates! don't be expecting this tablet to get Android N! Samsung tablets are horrendous for updates my old 10.5 Tab S is on Lollipop and it's long forgot about!

They appear to be stocking both and calling them the same model. The website states the Exynos CPU but I picked up a T813 model in store. The only way to tell the difference is by a small sticker on the box and the back of the tablet.

No problem. I'm sitting in an office with a PC in front of me with a slow internet connection. I've got a 5GB file that I need to get onto my tablet. With my S2, I simply plug in and drag and drop. I don't need to install any drivers on the computer or any software. The people around me with apple devices are unable to accomplish this simple task. Is there something they are missing?

If you have the choice, go for the Exynos version. The version with the Snapdragon was referred to as Value Edition in some countries for a reason.

is the truth so hard to swallow? I mean its a proven fact backed by hundreds of detailed tests and bechmarks available online that the iPad Pro is the fastest, most powerful and best tablets in the world period and nothing android can touch it.
Android tablets are dying anyway, only samsung still making a few new models..and their apps are just enlarged phone apps.
Who cares about lack of SD card when you can copy video files to internal memory, cloud or even better stream them via Kodi,Netflix, etc?
are you still living in 2004 when you had to download movies and archive them on memory and carry them around with you?

there are now simple Apps that allow transfer of file from pc to iPad.its as easy as copying the file to SD.
Also iPads, tablets and smart phones are designed to be online,if you have slow or no connection then thats not the standard and normal situation to blame the device for,but as I said what you mentioned is possible.

Thanks for this Tequila. However, it involves installing software on the PC. Due to security, most companies don't allow users to install programs. No need for this on the S2.

let's see: you are stock in a weird situation,a company with dead-slow internet and not allowing you install a basic small safe software..yet they allow staff download 5GB video files no problem, wonder how long it takes with that dead-slow connection to download the 5GB file to the PC and how come they don't care about staff casually copy videos files from their PCs into their personal SD cards.
(Do their PCs even have SD card slots because most company PCs don't and so you have to carry an aditional device and cables all the time just in case? )
So yeah Tab S2 is better in this scenario in your view..but about everything else after?
also I requested 3 things that cannot be done with iPad.
you just brought one rare situation and that was all about restrictions of your company and lack of internet access.hardly iPads fault.

This sort of thing happens often when you work for a high security company where bandwidth is used for life critical tasks. It also happens for lots of office workers who's IT department means they cant install software. The apple devices effectively become cut off from your work PC.
Number 2, me and my Mrs are on a plane. I've just bought her a new phone and we want to test the sound quality of the new device. With my S2, I just Bluetooth an mp3 over to the new phone so we compare like for like. Once again, no data, no Wi-Fi, no access to app stores and no need to install anything.

It is not a weird situation; most companies that reach a certain size (say over 50 employees) will start implementing access controls so that only admins can install software and drivers. It is the iPads' fault that it can't simply be plugged in and used as an external storage; that's not the fault of the consumer. Stop making pathetic excuses for the draconian controls that Apple has implemented.
