These are awful kettles. Im on my 3rd replacement kettle. The lid does not close after a while of use on all 3 ive had, and now this one leaks as well.

I have the same kettle. No leaks, lid closes fine, but sometimes due to the hard water it can get tough to latch the lid, so I simply press the lid open button, then shut the lid, then release open button.
What I don't like is that the spout is not angled enough to make pouring water easier. But other than that, good metal kettle in use every day for a few years now. Fingers crossed.

It's stainless steel inside with hidden heating element. Only place where it can touch the plastic, is the 2x holes at the back for the water meter and lid area, but the lid is a couple of inches from the high water mark. Pretty much unfortunately, every stainless steel kettle ith a water meter has plastic inside.
The water filter is not great, because the spout does not stick out so much.

How does that work then? Surely the filter is there to keep the chalk out of your drink, not out of the kettle. Anyway, not a problem here as we have very soft water (thanks Wales!).

I prefer to use citric acid, it's milder than a lot of the commercial de-scalers, so less likely to cause a leak.

I recently binned my third Russell Hobbs kettle. I dismantled each one first to check if it might be repairable, and having seen how ridiculously fragile (cheap and nasty) some of the internal components are, anything Russell Hobbs is ice cold from me.
I replaced it with one of these, mainly on the basis that it's not a Russell Hobbs and because of the "Which" recommendation:

I bought one of these 'bad boys' when my last kettle packed up.it came 2nd in a 'which' magazine research not so long back .It is so fast in boiling water and the price is excellent also.I thoroughly recommend it."

Limescale, well hard water is supposed to be good for your health, and with fracking as long as the well is lined properly as is required in the UK shouldn't effect the water supply, its a big fuss about nothing other than the small risk of a really minor tremor.

In the states some oil companies have got away with not lining their wells properly and dumping the contaminated waste water in unlined pits from which it seeps out contaminating the ground water, that's not going to be permitted here:- https://www.rt.com/usa/338091-study-fracking-pollute-water/

Those are visually appealing but very noisy. Have it in mind if you are waking up before the rest of the family and counting on it for your morning tea. You can get in to trouble.

I purchased this Kettle from Aldi a while ago and would not buy one again. It is the noisiest kettle I have ever owned!
