Rotary watches are nowhere near as prestigious as they used to be.

Not sure why this is expired - it's only 4 quid more than the deal price now...hardly a ripoff! Just edit the post and you can revive this deal.

Has anyone bought it and is returning it?

Sitting here reading these comments and they are rather amusing to say the least. A couple people have had bad experiences with their watches and I'm sure the warranty covered those problems, as with many things, people who have bad experiences are quick to say and those who have had good experiences tend not to come forward as easily as the others. Well I like my watches and I had been looking for a nice skeleton dial watch for a while, I admired the Rotary ones but I never found them to be a keen price for me. A few months ago, my wife bought this one for me from H. Samuel https://www.amazon.co.uk/Rotary-Automatic-Analogue-GS00651-21/dp/B01GJEVASG/ref=lp_10908753031_1_4?s=watch&ie=UTF8&qid=1471593987&sr=1-4, for £99 and I thought it was an absolute steal! I love the watch, have only worn it a couple of times on special occasions and it drew a lot of compliments.
They all seem to have gone back up in price so those of you who missed out because of the other comments on the thread then you gave up the opportunity to make a decision for yourself. If you like the look of something, and it's in a price point you think is good value then give it a go and make your own mind up - if you don't like it or it's not up to scratch for you then send it back, that's what returns are for.
As for the comments about made in China, cheap watches, blah blah blah, show me where you can get another skeleton dial watch from a similar brand around that price if you feel this isn't good value for money, but have a look at how hot the deal got, 359 degrees isn't bad going

Seiko are generally well regarded for their automatics, with examples from the '70s commonplace with minimal servicing required.

It doesn't feature hacking movement or crown winding, but it looks good and keeps good time.

Oh, I believe Seiko also has Sapphire dual windows as well. Only £54 on amazon (model SNXS73) for those without Clubcard points.

Rotary and Stuhrling are brands which inflate their RRP while perpetually being on sale. These used to be prestigeous brands a long time ago but are now mass produced for cheap in China.

Good value for an automatic

Had a voucher for £10 so ordered one.

So after reading these comments I think I'll refrain from buying one!

The easy but of advice of buy any watch but more pertinent at this end of the market. Know what you are buying! Though that stands true for any item regardless of price.
Any item that can be found with large discounts, regularly is not worth its RRP. Though anything that you struggle to get 5-10% off, is normally worth its price if it's an item you desire.

Fell once. Broke mechanism. That's that.

Chinese movement and hardex crystal - £50 is maybe the right price.

Had the exact same watch from Argos in silver and black, screw fell out of it within the first month, and got wedged between the face and the glass. Thankfully took it back under the warranty, and was issued a full refund.

​There are good Rotary watches and bad watches. If you walk into Goldsmiths and spend £250 on a Rotary it will be a decent watch in it's own right and chances are it will be Swiss made however if you walk into Argos you can pick up a Rotary watch that will rely on the Rotary reputation however it will be a Chinese made quartz watch.

So are you genuinely comparing Rotary to Rolex or just a WUM?

Rotary used to be a respected make (never a top-end brand), but made decent watches. Sometime in the mid-2000s they took the decision to outsource a large chunk of their manufacturing to the Far East with only a small number of watches still made in Switzerland. There is a world of difference between the Swiss made watches and the others (typically marked on the dial as 'Est Switzerland 1895' rather the 'Swiss Made')
The Swiss made watches have quality movements and compare well with other similarly priced Swiss watch brands - the others though are simply not as good and are overpriced at RRP - the sale prices as per this link probably represent reasonable value, but people shouldn't expect to be getting a genuinely high quality watch via this deal....
