Rory Mcllroy PGA TOUR (download) on PSN summer sale. 88% off.
I've never played this. So can't comment on game play etc etc. But for the price it's a bargain in my opinion.

I would have been disapointed to pay full price for this, but under £10 its great. On the plus side there is varied courses, decent graphics, and quick gameplay. On the downside the PGA tour is a bit dumbed down (you don't play the whole events), and the character editor is woeful.

Anyone who has played both recently - which is better - this or the Golf Club? I like a challenge in single player!

haven't played the golf club would also like to know if it's any good if you got rory you'd be bored in a couple of days there's no challenges like in previous years just basically career mode and each tournament you only play a few holes per round

I prefer this over the golf club. More variety in the courses (even though the club has an editor it never lets you really change too much) and Rory McIlroy has at least a Career mode.

TGC - no contest.
This isn't as bad as the reviews say but with user-generated content, TGC has virtually limitless courses, despite some network problems.
They are quite different games though - Rory is very arcadey with lots of helpers & after-touches - TGC is more of a simulator which takes a bit more getting into but is soooo much better.
I must have clocked a few hundred hours on TGC so far and I'm not looking like getting bored yet.

Does it let you play in the Olympics? :smirk:

golf club is basically a golf sim. no power indicator and no characters editor and nothing official. looks pretty and does have a good course builder. I just bought Rory hoping it might be better so yeah

Sigh. This site and it's fascination for posting the same things over and over :/
Bought this the other day, never personally owned a golf game, played them on ps3 before.
Not a golf fan but find it good to play and could waste several hours a day on it.
Wouldn't pay £40+ for it, at under £7 it's a good game

Poor compared to the Tiger Woods previous versions.

golf club has a career mode. i had to pay a little extra to get it in game. you start in ametuer tournaments at your local club and work up to pro by winning throughout the season. golf club is a golf sim, simple but real. no power mods or boosting players like pga. everyone plays level field like real life if your good your good if not you need more practice just like life. you wont be constantly finishing 18+ under everyround you have to earn good realistic scoring all the time. pga is okay but if wanting a real gold game golf club is the one easy.

No, but there is a mode where you sit at home for 17 days, and watch the stuff that matters. Whilst googing some new clubs to stick on your Christmas list..

There is actually an option to play the full tournament (4 x 18 holes) but for some reason it is set to that daft abbreviated mode by default.
On a side note Nike announced during the week they withdrawing from the golf market completely ceasing production of clubs, balls and accessories. Interesting to see if this has any impact on future games.

I used to love the Tiger Woods series but even being a big fan by TW12 i got bored. i tried tgc and it took a bit of getting used to but once your used to the more sim side of it its a great game. whoever said not much variety? there's user created real life courses which are spot on( and some not quite right) and invented courses so its almost limitless courses. Don't forget the publishers official online tournament leagues to keep you tested against some stupidly good players at the top down to not very good players, it's all there.

Can you get The golf club "collector's edition" via the PSN store UK as can only find "The golf club" not the collector's edition on there.

Neither could I - It's an in-app purchase that comes up when you try to access "Seasons" or load a course up with the additional content.
