Just purchased but what a frustrating app. Had problem entering my address and then kept changing to
an address nearby. Still worth it as finally managed to get it for £14.99. Cheers Chanchi. After your JustEat deal and now the printer, you are making me broke. :smirk:

Comes with 700 page starter cart only. Original and compatible toner carts are not the cheapest, but I guess the price may come down as this model range sells more.

3 Aug 16 1 #20
Easier using a PC/Laptop and going through online - use code Welcome - however it only takes of £10 and the printer is £19.99. No problems with crashing , etc and easier to change info and more likely to get it before the quota is met whilst phaffing around on the mobile.

Saves a lot of hassle .

Also I am sure you can get some extra through various cashback sites - I have a work one and I got back an extra 20% so.
M0nk3h to Mighty -Mo
3 Aug 16 #24
To say an extra fiver, i'd go through the hassle. £20 is still not bad but £15 is even better.

Second time round, no hassle. Went through fine.

Ordered dell e514w from amazon for around 65 I haven't opened it but this maybe better for me. I mostly print labels in black and white and wanted a cheap laser. I have ordered probably send the Dell back to Amazon. The box of the Dell is massive I am guessing the printer is also more expensive. How is the WiFi printing from a tablet or Android phone anyone got this care to comment thanks

I can't vouch for Windows 10, but this works on Mac with it being added as a Generic PCL device. See my post in the linked thread. I used mine on a Mac initially, but needed AirPrint so decided to connect it to a Pi Zero I have running for other things. It now works perfectly well over AirPrint with a generic GutenPrint driver.

Bought without issues on the App using PayPal, did say limited stock so fingers crossed it will actually be delivered.
The old thread on this had many useful comments on where to get cheapo refill toner.

A word of obvious warning, I ordered this at £20 to replace an inkjet forgetting that this wouldn't have the scanner Etc. Have kept my inkjet just for that and use this as main printer.

Cracking bit of kit for the price. Yes it only has a 700 page starter cart, but firstly coming from an inkjet that seems like loads, secondly it has an eco setting where it uses 50% less toner. Pages are still perfectly legible just more gray than black.

Their app is terrible though.
Asked for my full name, so i put down my full name - example John Smith
and no matter what I did on the checkout page, it INSISTED that it was sending it to "mr john" instead of mr john smith. At one point it even insisted that I had to be a female too.

Was about to buy this then thought, nah, I don't really need one.

Seriously guys, printers are one of the worst products for the environment. Especially ones where the cartridges or toner cost more than the units themselves.

I can just imagine the sheer amount of people who have bought this to just use up the starter toner in it, be put off by the expensive replacement toner or hassle of refilling the one that came with it, and either putting it in their attic never to be used again or taken down the local civic amenity site.

If you really do need one, then go for it. But please do think to yourselves - is this a need or a want?

you would be amazed at some deals that are done. i worked in retail electronics many years ago, and our MD got wind of a deal that a competitor was about to release so buying contacted panasonic and told them we would refuse a shipment of many containers of tvs and hifi syatems unless... at the time a panasonic 14" tv cost just over £200 and they gave us one free for every £600 music centre - i said it was a long time ago, that we took as we had over 40 outlets around the country, we sold a lot.

Can't get it working on my Mac (desktop or MacBook). I've installed the Gutenprint drivers and it is detected using IPP protocol, but after I select the PCL 6 generic Gutenprint drivers and click "Add" it just hangs. The Add printer dialogue cannot be closed even by Force Quit and the machine has to be rebooted to get rid of it. Same story if I select the non-gutenprint PCL drivers.
Anyone else had this problem or, better still, solved it?
Someone said AirPrint works but if I select that instead of IPP, the printer is not detected at all.

Hello, I wanted to ask some questions:

Its my first printer :P I started to panic and worry when my A4 paper did not fit in the tray, turns out the tray extends on the back side.

So,

- What exactly does the "Bypass tray" do?

- When I click Status under Print Cartridge - It says Remaining level 5, what on earth does that mean? is there a way to say e.g 60% remaining? How do I know how much toner I have reminding? see image
- http://imgur.com/a/CkKbj

- How do I print so its on both sides?
E.g I printed a 4 page WORD document, and I wanted it on 2 physical papers, but it came out on 4 seprate sheets?

Thank You

Never received an invoice (assuming there isn't one in the sealed ricoh box) or even email order/ shipping confirmation. The only indication of purchase is the entry on the mygroupon webpage, which I took a screenshot of. Hopefully it would be sufficient for ricoh in the event of a warranty claim. Rather unprofessional though.

Bizarre, after 3 live chat sessions when they said i hadnt completed the transaction and gave no assistance to help me purchase, they were sold out. apparently you have to wait 6 hours before trying again. they didnt send me an invoice, but i found a my hermes 'while you were out' note saying a package had been left with a neighbour - i had been in all day. couldnt get package until following day and was surprised to find it was the printer. checked bank and payment has been taken.
it says on ricoh site that you cannot register warranties at this time, but to use the postal blurb with item, only there isnt any so how do i get the 2 year warranty? last thing - no wonder your average punter is confused and calls it a black and white printer, as that is what it says on the box. it does not print white.......

do a windows update - but avoid updating to windows 10 because it costs money. you then select printer from a list. if you want to set up wirelessly and have button on router you press that then wireless button on printer within 2 minutes for it to be discovered.

you can get basic driver from ricoh website, but the cd with software should have been in with instructions etc.

My delivery person was a local woman with her own car. Very thin and the poor woman had to carry it up 3 flights of stairs.

Don't stress. it can be done as I don't have a DVD drive either and installed it.
Unfortunately I'm about to go out so don't have time to remenmer exactly but some one else will help you.

Something like...
Hold down the wifi button on the printer and then press the WPS button on our router to make a connection.
Download the driver and software from Rioch website.
Right click one onr the driver files and install it.
Install the software and run it. Do a printer search to get the IP address. Mine wouldn't install this way but you need the adress.
On Windows 10, go to bottom right of screen. Notifications/All settings/Devices/Add printer. It will do a scan and if like mine won't find anything so press 'The printer that I want isn't listed'

Then add printer using TCP/IP and enter the IP address. The Port gets filled in with the same info, thats O.K/.
Press next and your done.

Simplez.....lol.

Oh, or just pug the USB cable in.

wanted to register the warranty... i am within 30days and not quick enough ...

"If you have purchased a product without Ricoh direct or dealer service contract, please complete and submit Product Warranty Registration Form within 14 days of purchase to ensure continuous coverage."

I bought mine 8 days ago and it said the same thing when I completed the warranty form.

It didn't confirm whether the form submission went through or not. Is it supposed to? Guess I'll wait to see if any confirmation email arrives and try again if not.
