now *that* was a hot deal. I vividly recall the chase - couldn't source one, unfortunately.

It was available online for about a week, I just ordered mine for collection at my local store.

I think it took about 3 weeks before I managed to get hold of the console. Did get one however!

Not being pedantic, but maligned rather than misaligned! Just wanted to say that as it's a great console, the weakest part of the normal DS is the hinge and this does away with it.

Same here from Asdas. Not overly impressed with the console to be honest. Mario kart is ok but not as much fun as double dash and luigi mansion 2 isn't as fun as the original. Playing zelda at the moment and it's ok. I'm I asking too much of this console ?

3ds is a great console
playing only 2ds means you miss out on the main feature of 3ds

I completely disagree. Playing in 2D only misses the gimmic of the 3DS. I've had one since launch, then an XL, and both new normal and XL (though never a 2DS) and having played in both 2 and 3D, very, very few games actually use the 3D to change the gameplay at all. I now play almost exclusively in 2D.

honest question: as someone who is adamant that they're going to upgrade to a "New 3DS XL" from a 3DS XL (built in NFC etc. - yes, I'm that bad), do you not find the "improved" 3DS of the "New 3DS" to be worthwhile? I heard the head tracking makes it totally worthwhile.
like you, I turned 3D off ages ago - mainly so me and my kid could co-op play. I was kind of hoping I could turn it back on some day. Not that I miss it, as you say. Or even that I'll be able to keep it on, what with the aforementioned co-op sessions.

It's not possible for it to change the gameplay
It's nothing more than an optical illusion
3D is the main feature of 3DS
The clue is in the name :smirk:
It's much improved on the New consoles

The improved 3D is much, much better. The old 3DS gives that 'lenticular picture' effect, the new one doesn't to it anywhere near as often - if you enjoyed plating with 3D on with the old console, but turned it off because it was poor, the new one will sot this for you. For me, the "New" console is well worth it for the better screens and I find it comfier to hold too. The gap between the smaller consoles it bigger, perhaps even the "New" normal sized one being better than the "New" XL, but I like the bigger screens. The sound is a LOT better from the speakers on the new consoles too. I'd say do it, you won't regret it!

oh I've already bought one in my head, rest assured. knowing that NX is probably going to be the end of the 3DS (given the rumours), I was hoping to hold out and see if there's going to be a clearance of old stock / price drop. there's a few new SKUs coming in November too -->https://twitter.com/NintendoUK/status/765460067000918016. it's not like there's a rush for me to go out and buy one either, what with already owning an "old" one.

Am not a fan of the 2DS. You can pick up a digital copy of MK7 on ebay for under £15 or a used physical copy for £20.
I find it difficult to comprehend a 2DS can be off the value of £50 or more. I wouldn't pay £10 for a 2DS myself.

Opening post
Much misaligned console looks a real good price especially when you consider that Mario Kart is still £25 in CEX
