These are great to clean car windscreens and also leave a layer of water repellent on the glass. Great stuff if you apply it correctly. You can apply the at your house windows too.
These are sold by most online retailers but is very expensive. This has very good reviews.

I would caution against using this stuff! Sounds like a good idea but used it on my wife's car and it went 'milky' whenever it was wet and wiped - really quite dangerous. Almost impossible to remove even trying a variety of solvents. At one stage we thought we would have to replace the windscreen (£600 because it's heated) but after a year it's almost OK now. From what I read we're not alone.
BEWARE!

Very good product, don't use though if you have auto wipers. Did that once and the rain just runs off the screen with hardly anything to wipe causing wiper juddering.

The 99p shop used to sell this stuff in smaller red bottles called "rain away " .
You could still see and drive in the rain without using windscreen wipers if it was not too heavy, so it does work.
Unfortunately when the pound shop took over the 99p stores , this and other good products no longer appear to be stocked.

Are you sure you're not confusing it with the half cut potato method ?,(excellent for windscreen chips too btw )
Used rain x years ago and worked quite well if regularly applied but I don't drive fast enough nowadays for it to have any real effect

If you have an action cam like a go-pro or sony action cam with a waterproof case this is really good stuff to stop rain beading obscuring the picture.

cool this be used on shower doors?

probably. Would cause the water to bead but pretty pointless as you would still need to squeegee the water away. It's the wind from driving along that makes this product effective.

Used it on my 24 year Astra for a few years now....no probs at all...you notice the real benefits of it when you are on the motorway in wet weather as rain/spray from cars/trucks just beads off and makes driving in these conditions safer perhaps?

This isn't full Rain-X that is a solvent based repellent with complicated instructions as below
Clean and dry surfaces before treating, Apply in temperatures above 40 degrees F, Apply Rain‑X® to a small, folded, dry cloth, Wipe onto exterior glass using a firm, circular and overlapping motion, Allow product to dry; a slight haze may appear, Reapply Rain‑X® to ensure complete and uniform coverage, Remove final haze with a dry cloth or by sprinkling water onto the haze and wiping with a paper towel
This is just a glass cleaner with some repellent properties instructions - Fast and easy to use – just spray on and wipe away with no buffing required

I have used this for years without issues, great stuff. You should always ensure that the windscreen is properly cleaned and de-greased before using this type of product.Cleaning the windscreen with vinegar usually does the job.

Rain-x is rubbish, the best bar none is G5, it lasts way longer and doesn't impact ur vision when applied properly

It was exactly this stuff - the cleaner and water repellent, not just repellent. Got that because the screen also had a thin layer of road film so needed a good clean as well. I suspect this stuff may have reacted in some way with the film (just a theory) but it certainly didn't do any good! Maybe it would be fine on a brand new screen but I'd never put it on a vehicle ever again. Far safer just to have some decent screenwash in the bottle and wiper blades in good condition.

I've used the two part Rain-X stuff before. It's really good stuff, but you've got to apply it properly and you've got to keep re-applying it. I found that when the film had started to deteriorate, it far worse than before I'd applied it and it took ages to go back to normal.

Great product. I've heard they use this on astronauts visors to prevent them getting rained up during spacewalks.

That photo isn't real. Astronauts don't need umbrellas because the Rain X keeps their visors clear.

Rain X is only good for motorway driving, useless for urban driving. Also, not sure if they still are but they were supporters of Brake, the anti motorist organisation.
