The game may be great and fun. But when it's priced at £50 (full price game) I expect a whole lot more for my money, and I consider that price an absolute scandal. I price games on the basis of what I have played and paid previously. So considering its price point, I look immediately at games like The Witcher 3, Battlefield 4, Call of Duty, Dark Souls, Uncharted 4, Last of Us, you get the picture. All of those games provide immense amounts of quality, content, and gameplay and therefore worthy of their price tags. Then you have No Mans Sky, a small indie title, which when compared to those games offers very little. (other than an algorithm that generates randomised planets, vegetation and creatures, based off a database of voxels). If this game was marketed as such and priced itself alongside games like Minecraft, then I would praise it's individuality and creativity. But at £50 Sean Murray can take a run and jump, and I hope Hello Games lose the lot and have to close down because this industry does not need anymore sly, lying, robbing slime balls.

They aren't randomised planets though, the mathematics means that those planets will always be the same for everyone despite the billions of planets available. There are a huge number of people that absolutely love the game but there are others who clearly would never like it but bought it anyway because of the decent marketing. Also I think the timing of No Man's Sky has been unfortunate as because of Brexit there has been a noticeable increase in game prices.
I don't get the hate for Sean Murray he delivered exactly what he said he would. I've already enjoyed it more than some of those games you have listed. The feeling I had when I first boosted out of the atmosphere for the first time was brilliant. Then to dock at a space station etc. I've still much to see and do and enjoying it. I may hit a boredom wall at some point where I feel I've seen as much as I want to but I really can't see that happening for ages and will probably work towards the universe's centre and not finish until I get there. I remember stopping playing Call of Duty after about 3 hours thinking I've seen and done this all before and paid good money for that game. The mathematics of No mans sky would not be easy.
It's not a simple indie game, yes that's their roots but this was not a small project. It took investment by Sony and the team were dedicated to it for a long time. They had to fund a soundtrack and other bits. You can't compare Joe Danger with No Man's Sky.

Lots of games have grind and some people enjoy the grind like myself. I'm enjoying the game lots to see and do and I like the soundtrack and love the graphics. It keeps getting updated all the time too. I'm not sure what people were expecting, its exactly what it was forecast to be, inspired by elite and similar games using procedurally generated planets etc. I'll be playing this game for a long time probably in between playing on more throw away games.
If you don't like it fair enough but there are load of games and genres I hate but I'd never judge people for liking the same games I hate.
That said I'm playing it on PS4 but from what I hear PC owners have a lot more to moan about.

It is a disgrace of a game.
It's one long grind. Collect x amount of crap to craft more crap, so you can upgrade your crap, so you can travel to another planet and start collecting more crap, to craft crap, that allows you to travel to more similar looking planets, to start mining crap, to craft some crap, that upgrades your crap.
Spoiler alert: Right at the centre of the universe is a planet shaped like Sean Murray's head laughing a spewing £20 notes into the darkness of space, and then a pair of 8 bit sunglasses slide in from the right, and a bifta slides from the left into his mouth.

Quite agree. It's wonderful. The fury that some people are having about it is bizarre. I think we're seeing a lot of people upset and confused because they suddenly have a game that's not exactly like all the other games.
