We would like to apologise for an error that lead to Retro/Grade being offered as one of this month’s free to download games on PS Plus.
We are aware that this title has previously been made available as part of the service in 2012 and had not intended to offer it again. We have now looked into and addressed this issue to ensure that it does not happen in the future.
To rectify this we are pleased to be able to offer an additional title for PS Plus members; Tom Clancy’s EndWar (PS3) from UbiSoft, which is now available to download immediately.

The way it's phrased, it sounds like they're trying to say it was an innocent mistake, rather than an intentional attempt to be cheap. So incompetence as opposed to deception. Either one doesn't exactly instill a lot of confidence. How difficult is it to do a check that none of the monthly games have previously been offered? There's even a wikipedia page for it.
Wow, first time one of those deals has gone cold in a while?

You know what the expectations are like. Although, it was pretty grim.

Still, at least they finally fessed up and did the right thing.

I think it was probably a mistake, it was a previous title for EU PS+ [not US] and (I would imagine) that the US sets the PS+ lineup these days as SCEE just seems to put little effort into anything these days...or certainly that is the impression I get from the blog.
Of course someone on this side probably noticed the mistake and thought "the players won't mind". :smirk:

Great! I wonder if anyone will actually play this?
Nice post anyway. Any freebie is worth posting

wow.... is this them trying to improve the offering or make it worse?
A shame really, as there are some pretty decent titles included, Rebel Galaxy especially.

Thought they had already offered it...already had it purchased and it looked like a title I would never buy. I've been with PlayStation plus since day 1

Happy to see they have sorted the issue, as far as I'm aware this is the first time this has happened with ps plus, just glad to see we've got a replacement

Wow, good that we have been given another game. Their customer service were previously contacted (not by me) and were quote as saying the following:
Hi,
Thanks for contacting PlayStation Support.
With PS Plus subscription consumers get two free monthly games. We do not specify that those games haven't been PS Plus games before.
The main reason why we might offer the same PS Plus game again is that the newer subscribers will have an option to get an access to popular titles.
I hope this helps, but if you have any other questions please contact PlayStation Support using the contact details below or by replying to this e-mail. Quote xxx and one of our team will be happy to help you.
Thank you,

Thought that was odd! Literally added all the PS+ free games this afternoon and at checkout I noticed EndWar was in there, but I was sure I didn't select it... But it was free, and I didn't have time to look back. Now I know why!
