I have found £179 return flights from Gatwick to Guangzhou in southern China in October. Check on Skyscanner or Cheapoair.
It's a shame it's not to Beijing (where I was hoping to go) and unfortunately the cities are rather far apart. However, for that price it's sorely tempting...!

Am sat in an apartment block in a China town, (no idea where) just been built for over 500000, with 40000 inhabitants.
I love this place it's as mad a bag of frogs, which was very strange when I saw said bag.... I am booking if I can get this deal. Hot hot

To keep is simple, just look at Mileage Run Deals sub-forum, lots of deals are posted daily (but also stops for days). You really need to know the airport codes and you need to act very very quickly before the deals expire.
Happy flight hunting

Got really sick when I went to Beijing this year. Everything tastes like sh*t, food quality is really poor.
I do want to go again though since I paid so much for a 2 year visa, but don't think this much flying/poor airlines is worth it.
I want to go jiuzhaigou national park one day, looks lush.

It's the price of a slow boat to China rather than a flight!

Afternoon,

Thanks

Can't comment on the flights, but Xian is definitely worth a visit. It's an interesting city and the terracotta army is amazing.

But, unequivocally correct. I won't fly domestic in questionable states, unless it's absolutely necessary. As someone who has spent a lot of time flying, it's always worth paying a bit more for safety, peace of mind and comfort.
For the sake of a hundred quid or even two. I'd rather pay the money and get there in a third of the time. You lose nearly a day for the sake of saving a couple of hundred quid.
I understand this site is for deals. But, some things just ain't worth being a tight get for.

Already had pleasant experience with Hainan, even domestic. Better than CZ

The long haul carrier is Tianjin airlines, who recently started a direct service from Gatwick to Chongqing and Tianjin. Nine year old A330. Tianjin are expanding with several international routes and are a skytrax 4 star airline. They are backed by Hainan Airlines who are a 5 star airline and have several international services. It probably won't equal a middle eastern carrier in terms of service but it should be perfectly acceptable.
Know someone who is flying with Tianjin airlines tomorrow evening back to China so might be able to comment more early next week.

Hainan airline is one of the worst airline in China, at least the domestic flights are horrible and foods are terrible too. Never tried Tianjin airline but since you mentioned it has lower grade, I would rather skip it at all if money isn't more important than life and experience for you. I'm Chinese.

Can't rely on these dodgy airlines.. Probably have a bad safety record. The food is also probably not nice..
You're better off flying with Emirates or BA ..
COLD. Sorry

From what I can tell it involves 3 connections with airlines I've never heard of and takes 30 hours each way.
So if you are looking for total bargain, go for it.
