Found in store at Sainsbury's in Ashton Under Lyne. Marked as half price. Seems like good value for this newest box. Doesn't seem to be available online....

Bought this, thanks OP. It's a pity that they have stuck with the basic remote control.
Does anyone know how to go straight to the HD channels? When I start the TV guide up with left arrow, it always starts on the SD version of BBC1.

This might be a silly question, but does it require an aerial for the freeview part still, or does it stream everything?

Yes, you'll need an aerial for freeview.

Thanks op, finally took the plunge and got one of these today. I bought one of the white ones off shopto a few weeks back but wanted this one because it can do 720p which the white one can't. so a now TV HD smart box, with 8 months entertainment passes for £47 all in.
Not bad

Got this box yesterday from Sainsburys - £35.
Signed up and then plugged it all in and it works perfectly. Started 14day free trials first and will cancel on 13th day then use the 5month voucher.
Freeview has great picture, interface is smooth and all works perfectly. Could have done with this ages ago

Can you put Kodi on these new boxes or is it still Plex only?

Side load of Plex only, won't work with Kodi :disappointed:

I just got one of these NOW TV Smart boxes via the £39.99 Amazon 4 month movies pack. Interestingly that deal is now showing up as a pre-order and not in stock.
That same pack was £35.99 as an amazon daily deal which many HUKDs got.
The NOW TV Smart box is made by Roku (partly owned by SKY) and looks identical to the Roku 4 box. Details on NOW TV Smart are patchy but it does claim to have a quad core processor and mine is very fast. I side loaded Plex Classic via developer mode which works super quick. I had to set Plex to Direct Play rather than transode.
Roku 4 is only available in USA at present and had lots of criticism for noisy fan and heat. No significant noise from my Smart TV.
Highly recommended since it appears to be a subsidised discounted Roku 4 clone obviously with limited NOW TV firmware.

Dont like the idea of putting card details into these boxes.

You don't. You redeem the passes and enter card details on the Now TV website and then simply sign in to the box the first time you use it.

Thanks, does it means if u add the pass, will it show channels from aerial and not live streaming ? That's sound better service ..

Fair assumption to say it is I reckon. Only the Ents deal in macc.
