This is the old now tv box not the newer version

True but so were the ones being sold in Argos & Amazon , and possibly John Lewis, where although the picture is of the newer box, the description doesn't actually confirm that is what you'll get.
I just bought one for the movie pass anyway, as I already have Now TV and I think £20 for that is a good deal.

Could you possibly outline the major differences between the 2? I'm just looking for catch up and Sky box sets (via the entertainment pack) for a bedroom TV with no aerial or Sky connection. Would the older version do this?

Perfect for you as the new box has the ability to plug an aerial in to view & record Freeview channels. Functionality you wouldn't be able to use without an aerial.
For catch up & box sets this is for you.

I can't WAIT till the Black Friday Weekend for alllllll these prices to CRASH HARRRRRD!!!, looking forward to getting some of these 4 Month Movie Boxes for close to ONLY £10 or so? (and/or £15 at best?), hehehehehe. :-)

Wouldn't hold my breath on that as by then they will have cleared all the old boxes which are reduced at the moment, and the new boxes will be higher in price to start with, so £10-£15 very optimistic I think.
I've bought two of these boxes now just for the passes so 10 months of movies to go for me. I think £5 a month for the movies is quite a good deal.

Do you have to use their box, or can you take advantage of the passes using an Android box or similar?

not sure about Now TV on an android box but you can use the NowTV app on smartphones, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox one, Roku box etc. only limit is max 4 devices per account (with 2 simultaneous streams too from memory)

I think they are surprised you don't know or didn't Google it.
To answer the question, Black Friday is an American tradition at the end of November. So basically Black Friday is the last Friday of November (25th November this year) and it is in America.
However, as we are talking about sales, for the last few years we have had Black Friday sales in the UK as well, various stores and online webshops have been doing Black Friday sales in the UK, Amazon will do one, Currys, and various other places. You would need to check each website to see if they have announced anything so far for this year. Asda will probably do some specific item sales on Black Friday, B&M will likely be doing a 10% discount across all prices.

If you already have a newer black NOW TV box, this is a good deal as can even just apply the CODE (is not built in with the box) so can apply to existing account on your current box in use.

It's an even better deal if you have a White box as you get a hardware upgrade for free

Thanks for your compressive reply. It is greatly appreciated, rather than a sarcastic response, I always find it goes down better. I was wondering if there was one coming up immanently, as there is reference to people waiting for it to save coppers on a Now TV box. That is what baffled me, apologies if I have the wrong end of the stick. Thanks again pal, people like yourself are a valued asset to this site.

Picked up one today with 6 months entertainment pass and it was the small black box (the one without freeview).

No worries, in terms of UK sales dates, we should be seeing back to school sales right now, but otherwise I think there is nothing now really until Black Friday in November and the normal Christmas sales.
In terms of pricing for these boxes, I would value NowTV Movies at £5 a month, it is worth that, and if you don't want it you can resell the card for about that on Gumtree/Facebook/eBay, or if you do want it, you would be paying that for it from those places, or if you cancel your subscription you would likely be offered that price for a few months. So on that basis I would say this is really a free box already.

Are you sure it's not only 3 months entertainment pass, I can't seem to find it listed with 6 months?
Sorry just found it. Less than £20 for 6 months is a great deal.

Once again, thanks. I'm pretty sure though, that a couple of days ago, somebody posted that if you download the Now app, you can stream to TV from tablet for free?
nige182
30 Aug 16#23
You can install the app PlayTo from the Now store which will let you fling content from your tablet to TV, or Plex sideloaded for your home media, but neither let you stream the NowTV service free.

Yes, this is pretty much the cheapest way to get the passes - you apply both codes to the 1 account
As above you can have the same account on 4 devices in your home and stream from 2 at a time
People sell the spare boxes on eBay - they are not worth much though
Hope this helps

This is a funny one to be so hot... These boxes are always £20 aren't they? Certainly our Sainsburys has them all for £20 except the Freeview one which is £35. I'm amazed that there can still be people who don't have a streaming device for their TV, or perhaps it's the passes that everyone is after
Looking out for some deals on Sky Sports passes, they seem to have cottoned-on to these, there never seem to be any good sports deals.

2 month movies version is £19.99, but the 4 month movies is now showing £39.99
Same with Entertainment version.
I resort to ebay now to buy movie passes - £10 gets you 2 months.
