Excellent 'do it all' bike for people looking for a bike for the roads and the trails.
Made by Canadian bike company Norco, this bike offers Shimano 105 performance at a Shimano Sora price point.
Alloy frame, carbon fork, Shimano 105 group set and opposed piston mechanical disc brakes (far superior to regular mechanical disk brakes), a perfect bike for all terrain.
RRP is close on £1k so a good discount on list.
Size 53 still available, should be fine for people in the 5'8" to 5'10" range.
12 months 0% finance available and 2% Quidco.
Size 55.5cm available

The Hot UK Opinions brigade seem to be out in force. "Why buy this when you can get a bike for £99 from Argos?" and other such pearls of wisdom.

Seems like a good deal.
An alternative would be the Cannondale Synapse Disc Adventure Endurance Road Bike at Triton Cycles for £40 more. Granted it won't take wide tyres, so it's questionable to call it an adventure bike, but you do get Sram Rival HRD hydraulic disc brakes. Link. Tredz also have some sizes for the same price. Link.

I have a GT Grade enduralgroad and love it, really got me enjoying cycling again. This looks a fairly similar bike and a good deal to me.

I was torn between this and a GT Grade. Both really well specced bikes for the money.

Good bike, but £140 more than the Norco I've linked not £40.
Completely different bike...
Like showing someone who wants a hatchback to buy a 4*4! Both cars, but very different sorts?

Good bike, but you won't be going off road on it!

Great bike but I would want hydraulic discs personally (having tried various forms - and for context I have callipers on my road bike, a Btwin Mach 720) . My "road" mindset would also be concerned at 12kg weight but if you are using this for adventure activities then that is a moot point. I have the new Canyon Roadlite 6.0. 9.2kg with hydaulic brakes, 105 & the smooth rubber can be swapped out for something more rugged. Yes it is more aimed for commuting, which is what I use it for, but it was a steal at £725 a few weeks ago (now back up to £799).

The brakes and frame are poor at RRP, a decent deal at offer price but you can do better frame wise if you opt for caliper braking, for slightly less than £750 with the B'Twin Ultra 700 AF. Depends where you want to primarilly use the thing. If you consider the Norco for the road, go for the B'Twin. Light trails, I'd go for the B'Twin and switch tyres. For things getting mucky, the Norco.

Brakes seem to be regarded as best in class for mechanical discs, ok not hydraulic but good power and feel with 105 levers appears to be the consensus.
Not sure how you can say frame is poor, some nice engineering touches on the Norco frame, and they have good pedigree in robust off road frames.
Re: the weight, a good chunk of this is going to be the robust wheel set, again part of the trade off for the off road ability. Have a spare set for road only excursions and that weight will drop.
The BTwin looks a very decent road tool though. Fantastic reviews.

Worth nothing that the 12kg weight listed on the site is incorrect, I queried this at the time, had a bike weighed for me at Evans warehouse and it was 10.1-10.2kg in size 53.

Pinnacle Arkose 2 2015 has recently been reduced if you're taller and looking for something a bit more adventure minded. Happy with mine although the much heralded hydraulic brakes aren't as good as my cheapo MTB shimano hydraulics

Never understand how the manufactures get away with not providing peddles.. Fairly fundamental to actually riding it

When did 12kg become so heavy? I mean I'm an out and out roadie and tbh the weight doesn't afect me that much

To be honest I agree, I think it's more a perception thing.

These adventure bikes how off-road is off-road, I seem to damage wheels and tyres on 26/27.5/29 tyres that are 2.1-2.35 wide mtb tyres, the cyclocross racers I've seen have been on muddy school fields and not off-road at all
I ride moorland, singletrack, muddy woodland, steep moorland tracks full of lose stone similar size to that used in a drystone wall,
And Yorkshire stone slabs and ridges of stone used for draining paths/tracks

If you are not familiar with Norco - here is my testimony; I bought a mtb/hybrid Norco Citadel in 2005 in Canada and got ten solid years out of it before I felt like I was due a wee upgrade. The thing was built exceptionally well, and I feel a bit of pride when I see a Norco parked up or zipping past.

Aluminium is ****, get a Steel frame with a carbon fork.
I've done about 6,000 miles on my GT Grade (all winter riding) and its still a great bike, and mine only has Tiagra on it

For another £40, I'd be tempted to go with the Boardman CX Team. SRAM Rival groupset with hydraulic discs. Anything's better than cable discs.

I was considering it, but Halfords build (meaning I'd need to spend a little more on getting it done properly) and bottom bracket issues (well publicised) pushed me in this direction. It was close though.

Good bike, strongly considered a GT Charge. Worth nothing it's not available at that price on Wiggle anymore. Had the Norco and a GT side by side and plumped for the Norco.
