Because he doesn't like the same games you do he's not a proper "gamer"? Bit childish, tbh.

I'm certainly not a moron thanks very much...
It's a great idea of course, but I'm not sure I would spend £50 just to play these classics on a shrunken NES console. I'm just not sold by it. At a price point of £29.99 I'd probably get one.

They could have added WiFi for pennies and allowed access to the Nintendo store to download more games. That would have sold it for me.

No Maniac Mansion or Ivan Stewart Super Off Road, no Kung Fu, no Probotector.
£45? It ain't worth £20.
I'd vote cold but I reckon a few people that can't (or won't) mod might see this as a great alternative to emulation on various platforms.
If you're from this era of gaming, you probably have all these anyways.
best way is to play them on emulators or do they not work well on ios?

I wouldn't say it's being tight, it's what something is worth to you personally. Like I said, if 5 more games I wanted were on this, I'd grab it.

CEX have now started trading Super Nintendo consoles, accessories and games
That is consistent with the use of the Wii controller ports. Therefore a second hand Wii for £20 (or the one you already own) with an SD slot starts to look much more compelling (although youd have to factor in the cost of the classic controller).
The "mini nes" also comes with only x 1 controller..

Whilst I can appreciate the effort that goes into the all round experience of a modern game, well, the few that I ever buy given their expense these days, I still think a lot more effort proportionately went into the old 8-bit games for the Spectrum and the C64. The programmers had next to no space to work with, and squeezed every last ounce out of those machines. I seem to recall Mike Singleton when talking about Lords of Midnight on the Spectrum saying he had only a few bytes (!) left. Modern programming & design teams make such bloatware by comparison, with Gigabytes of storage to play with on Bluray discs.
There's something to be said for old gaming, but sadly, the cost of this Nintendo device is too much when, as people have already stated, things like Retropie can be had for nothing, and even if the Pi hardware costs as much as the Nintendo Mini NES, there's lots more to choose from.

Softmodding your Wii is a much better way of playing NES, SNES, Megadrive (and other) retro games.
It outputs 480p via component cable (available on ebay for a few quid), so for a modern TV is better than using the original consoles (SNES games actually look better played on Wii than the original consoles on a CRT).
Emulators are easy to install and you can play any game you want.. as long as you own the original carts of course. http://wiibrew.org/wiki/FCE_Ultra_GX
In defence of the Mini Classic, it does have some stone cold classics included. Excitebike, Donkey Kong, Ice Climber, Castlevania, Mega Man 2 and Punch Out are all great, but there are some titles on there which are more about their draw than their contemporary playability (Zelda and FF for example).. It also doesnt include Ice Hockey, which is the pinnacle of all sports games (apart from Sensible Soccer).
I think this is officially the first time HUKD has actually saved me money. Had a pre-order at Amazon for the original price, cancelled that one and placed order at Argos for lower price. HOT HOT HOT.

Its a stupid thing, you can't add anymore games to it, it doesn't even come with a mains plug, you can get emulators for free.
But I've pre ordered one anyway I really cant say why

I remember hammering the bejesus out of my ZX Spectrum keyboard playing Daley Thompson's Decathlon, I think that was in 1984. Was an excellent way to fk up the fragile rubbery ZX Spectrum keyboard. Anyone remember Skool Daze on the ZX Spectrum? One of my favourite ZX Spectrum games is Halls of The Things. I remember using a hex editor on that game and finding hidden text in it. Anyway I digress, here's to another 30+ years of gaming if I make it that long!

Technology has massively improved and gaming has massively improved as well. A good game design is always a good game design, there is merit in many older titles. It's a fallacy to believe that modern gaming is just graphics, there's innovation, story telling and great gameplay. Who's going to want to play the original Doom or Duke Nukem 3D when you can play modern Doom? What I'm saying is that modern gaming can do gaming that's impossible in retro gaming. This doesn't mean retro gaming is redundant, it means it's a different experience.
If you thought UC4 was dull then I don't consider you to be a gamer anyway.

If they had allowed you to choose the games or something then I'd get this over a Pi, but too many classics missing is the deal breaker for me - Blue Shadow, Solstice, Bart vs the Space Mutants, Contra, and Bayou Billy.
