This is a great price as the 3rd gen is £199 and the only difference is this can't control your hot water tank, has a smaller screen and doesn't turn into a clock on the wall. So if you have a combi boiler it's perfect. This is the gateway to the smart home.
Programmer and thermostat in one. Change the room temperature, adjust your heating schedule and view your energy use through one simple device. Auto-Schedule mode recognises your preferred temperatures and programs itself accordingly. Regulates heat to be efficient, displaying the Leaf icon when you're saving energy. Auto-Away setting automatically reduces the heat when the house is empty. Operate remotely from mobile, tablet or laptop.

Nice toy.
But I save myself £84 by coming in from work, putting down my phone and keys and then manage to flick the switch on for my heating and manfully wait 15 mins for the heat to waft through my house.

Npower have the 3rd gen for £130 for npower customers. And can fit it for extra £70. So £200 fitted. Not bad

Not at all, it will be set to the temperature you like in your house so if the temperature drops below it, the system will kick in automatically and turn it on.

Well obviously, if you don't use your heating it will save you money, by that logic you may aswell throw out your bolier and radiators. So if you have Nest and are cold in your house you just have to freeze? At least you'll save a few pence

can you do heating boost with this yet?

No you can do a hot water boost but not with the heating. If u keep using the boost button it uses a lot of energy and this is designed to save energy.

I got the 3rd gen and works along with the way x nest protects (motion detect etc) not sure why anyone would compare this to flicking a switch on and off when getting home. I had no thermostat in my old house so heating was on full or not at all. awful and wasted loads on fuel bills. now I just set it to 20 degrees and don't care If the heating is off or on. one less thing to worry about and will save the initial cost via fuel bills. love that the protects will turn the gas off if carbon monoxide is detected.

Both Intergas and ATAG support opentherm!

The 3rd Generation is also opentherm compatible which modulates compatible boiler for even better efficiency.
So there is a bit more too them

Providing you have a compatible boiler that is, and most in the U.K. Are not! At least not the leading brands anyway as they want to sell you their own branded thermostats... not good :disappointed:

Got one of these a few years ago when Npower were doing them for £99. It's fab, though I haven't used the 'learning' stuff I just like the remote 'switch on/off via my mobile' facility.
Looks great too. I bought the stand and it's on a shelf in my lounge.
Good price!
