Quidco are offering £100 off a prudential car policy at the moment.

I'm doing mine next month so thought I would have a look, quote came in at £222 for me. I'm 25 driving a 1.9 TDI VW Golf. I have 5 years no claims and 3 points for speeding on the motorway. All this was declared.

So basically, with the £100 quidco payment, thats £122 for the YEAR!

Quidco doesnt give any tracking results at the moment, but thats definately worth a go!

Also, if you pay yours by monthly instalments, the APR is 24.9, but it still may work out a lot cheaper than other quotes.

I think I'm going to faint! £222 was the cheapest quote I had found anyway, by quite a long way. Most were £280-500. So knocking £100 off that is the icing on the cake! No more monthly insurance payments for me!

Go take a look, do a quote, see if it comes out any cheaper, and remember, you will get £100 off that (if it tracks) via quidco.

Happy insurance shopping people!

Both prudential car insurance and LLoyds TSB are underwritten by Churchill Insurance , Lloyds TSB pays £110 cashback via quidco so might be a slightly better deal for some people

Yes, did look at Lloyds, but their tracking is awful and their quote was £55 more expensive, so with the extra £10, was £45 more expensive.

They are not to bad.
I did a quick quote, using my dad as first driver and me as a second.

Came to £266, £166 including quidco, on a 1.4 seat ibiza as an example.

Not bad for someone who has their driving test in 2 weeks lol

Checked it out there price for me and wife was £475.65 whereas Privilege insurance for with the same details is only £220.35. With Quidco get £45 back so PRUDENTIAL I WOULD PAY A LOT MORE CHECK OUT PRIVILEGE.

cheapest quote ive had so far was a 1.6 N reg fiesta for £1173 (comp).
Thats with liverpool victoria (very cheap for new drivers)
I am only 20 though.
Also try quinn direct too they are cheap for first timers too.

Barclays will beat your renewal price ( by 1p) and give you £50 cash back
grdesign to Muwolves
10 Jul 06 #15
They wouldnt do that though because of the cashback. They would maybe do £221.99p or something and then give me £50, but its still not cheaper than £122. And I reckon there will be a certain level where they cut off giving out the £50. There will be so many terms surrounding it I would think.

Everyones quotes are going to be different, just thought I would post this up as for me, it generally was quite a shock. Thought others may get the same cheap deal.

I signed up with Lloyds on Sunday for £217 before the cashback but it does not appear to have tracked yet.

Prudential would be £10 cheaper with the quidco but I wasn't going to bother.

In view of Lloyds not tracking I think I will cancel with them & now sign up with the Pru. (Lloyds allow 14 days to cancel from receipt of docs which I haven't yet received & insurance not due til 05/08 anyway).

CIS just quoted me a nice happy " £3067.57" (third party f&t) including discount
Nah think ill stick with the quoted from liverpool victoria.
They only wanted £1100 fully comp on same car (its only a 1.6 n reg fiesta)

Hello All

Nice website, i think i mgiht use this deal best offer i can find have tried swift, confused.com and insurancesupermarket.com Prudential came to £229.95, is it worth protecting my 10 years no claims my brother recons "protected No Claims Discount" is worthless dunno how true this is.

So anyway if i go ahead with this will I get £100 cash back from my Quidco account? sounds like a bargin to me

That was incredible.

I honestly didn't believe a word of this Hot UK Deal. It just sounded like someone at Prudential had decided to drum up a bit of free publicity using this site. You know the routine.. never trust anything that insurance people say !!

I stand corrected.

I did my usual routine: did a search for all car insurance quotes through Confused.com. It's cheapest quote was £229.95.

Ironically, the quote for Dial Direct, who my insurance is currently with,
was £44 cheaper than the quote on their renewal letter (£299.98) !!

With Prudential, my quote was £213.15, which I *think* includes a £20
online discount with their own site. Subtract a quidco cashback of £100,
and I've just got the cheapest car insurance of my life, £113.15.

£299.98 or £113.15. Hmmm, tough choice.

God, I love this site!

Many thanks for this Deal ! And, okay, sorry for doubting it !!

I just renewed my car insurance :-(. Last year i paid £1,000 (1st year driving) this year the AA quoted £425. through quidco to get an extra £60. Not bad drop really.

I went to confused.com to find the cheapest offers then compared the cash back incentive through quidco.

I've got 9 years no claims, driving an Astra Coupe 1.8 Bertone, 0 points. 28yrs old. Inc protected no claims prudential are coming in at £457! How does that work out? I've also been in 1 non-fault accidents in the last 3 years. I know that Sainsburys are wanting to charge me £50 extra this yr cos of the non fault accident last year so I think (very unfairly) they charge you a lot more if you've been in a non fault accident ( How can you avoid that though??) My premium was cheaper last yr when I had 6 points on my licence.. this yr they've expired so I'd have expected it to be a lot cheaper.

Even though Egg don't have any deals with quidco they're still worth checking out they came in at £387.

Hmmm, seems quite apt (for me) that this comes up, it being renewal time. Bit wet behind the ears with regards quidco. So....i stick in all my details, and quote is £593. Is this without the quidco, £100 off? (I registered with quidco, then followed link, having searched for "prudential") If i take this, what happens, will i get £100 refunded to my credit/debit card? Sorry, but would rather know before i take the plundge....

Thanks

Quidco give you cashback, so you will get £100 paid into your quidco account. That then get's paid to you about 3 months later via quidco. Your insurance policy will still be the same, you just get a rebate later.

Tesco quoted me £350 for my renewal.

I registered with quidco, searched on prudential, then clicked on the link to take me to Prudential (but through the quidco link).

They quoted me £370, which is above Tesco's quote (beat all of confused.com's too). I proceeded, and within a few minutes the £100 was showing as 'tracked' on quidco.

I took out the policy towards the end of July, and it says that the estimated payment date is September. All in all, if the quidco pays off, it'll have beaten my next cheapest (Tesco) by £80. If it doesn't work (doubt it), I'd have only spent £20 more than with Tesco.

Overall, £270 for my car insurance (I'm 23, 5y no claims, Fiesta Zetec 51) isn't that bad I'd say.

PS -- you pay the actual quote from credit/debit card, quido will then reimburse you with the cash-back (as the name cash-back implies) once they get the referral monies from prudential themselves. It'll be paid either by BACS to your bank account or Paypal to email addy.

Anyone figured out please, how on summary, i can add a:

'guaranteed hire car'?

I cannot see how/where to change this, have opted for fully comp, but not the (very expensive) breakdown services.

Advice anyone please?

6 Aug 06 1 #38
i rang up, asking if they'd provide a courtesy car in the event i have an accident (touch wood)... they said that all fully comp policies guarantee a courtesy car.

I ticked lots of options but still couldn't get the 'yes' to appear under guaranteed hire car, so still lost there, but the most important thing to me was the guarantee of a courtesy car if i needed one..

The thing with Car Insurance is that each company has target demographics using a multitude of factors to create your premium. How many times have people said 'you want to try company x its really cheap' only to find its not for you. I literally try every company each year (until I loose the will to live) using this method I ALWAYS reduce my premium. Companies rely on you thinking they will be the cheapest this year because they were the last year at they take the **** with inflated pricing.

This deal is fanastic if one of the Quidco affiliates targets your profile because you will benefit further, so its still worth getting a quote.
rayman to paulws999
7 Aug 06 1 #41
I agree with this, always try each company every year. Not just for car insurance, but also for home insurance.

One of my relatives was quoted £345 with Tesco as the lowest premium available, that was after phoning quite a few others. Then by going through QuidCo with Prudential, the same quote details gave an immediate £110 less! Which made it £235. With the current £100 cashback deducted, makes £135 total paid out :o

Privilege ended up the cheapest for me- £319 and £40 back through quidco.
polak
7 Aug 06 #43
My mum's just been quoted £184 with Prudential, which is about the same as Post Office and her renewal from Churchill... minus the £100 cashback quidco will give, gives a grand total of £84 for her car insurance for this coming year.

Car is a 3y/o Fiesta, so nothing too top-notch, but then again £84 is great.

PS, when I was at uni, I studied with many guys from the Navy. Anyway, they always used to tell me that if they quoted their term-time address (Southampton/Portsmouth) or their actual home address (Liverpool), the quotes would be a lot more than if they quoted their parents' address (Nottingham). I'm not saying we should all fiddle-to-suit but it's just an example.

Similarly, I park my car at a public car park whilst at work, from about 8am to 6pm. For the remainder of the 24h day, I park in my drive way, hence I put down 'in driveway' for that particular section in my policy quotes all the time, since for 14 out of the 24 hrs of the day, my car's in the driveway.. I'm sure my policy would be loads more expensive if I was to say it was 'normally' parked in a public car park. But then what is 'normally'?? ;-)

Has any1 got the £100 added or validated yet???

The Pru were almost the cheapest for me, just £7 more @ £438 but i'm just about to sort out my sister insurance, and the pru are £40 more expensive.. but with the £100 back through quidco, It's a better off

Just, if it doesn't pay the £100 I've only lost £7 but she'd loose £40 + some other benifits.

Oh I'm too new to this Quidco.... if it's tracked will you deffently get it????

cheers
rayman
18 Aug 06 #49
If it's tracked, you should get it. It all depends on whether the retailer pays out [no reason to think Prudential wouldn't].

If it's tracked there's more chance of it being validated eventually, although some can take around three months.

well in that case then... my siter has managed to get her insurance for £263 fully comp on a car indenticle to mine, where i've paid £340 (which is still very cheap!)

Many online retailers offer what they call 'affiliates' money if people click on a link on the affiliates website that takes them to the retailer and then the person buys something. Its a sort of commission for introducing the customer to that retailer. Its a standard industry practice and sites have set themselves up to pass on some of this commission to people who are members of that site e.g. greasypalm & rpoints however Quidco give ALL the commission to you less a £5 fee. Works a treat and people are silly if they dont go for it as its there for the taking!

PS my mum tried Pru and it didn't track. We called to cancel policy... I'll try again on Monday by submitting again, this time hopefully it'll track, taking her premium down from £184 to £84 :-)
rayman
18 Aug 06 #54
There are many cashback sites on the internet. They offer you cashback every time you click through their links to go to a retailer you would be buying from anyway. This is because they get paid for the click throughs from those retailers who want to drum up more custom. To them it's like advertising and the money or incentives they offer, are payment for that.

QuidCo.Com is the first cashback cooperative and was the first to offer 100% of the earned cashback directly to the person making the purchase or taking up the offers.

The first £5 of your earned click throughs goes to QuidCo and is the only payment they take for each year. If you don't earn £5 then you won't pay them anything. But cashback can add up very quickly and before you know it you'll realise just how much you can get back.

The car insurance cashback is a really good example. As most people have found they've saved not only on their policy amount, but also have £100 tracked for cashback. That means you would have £100 cashback paid by the retailer into your QuidCo account [usually takes up to three months]. The first £5 for the year goes to QuidCo, the remaining £95 would be paid to you by BACS payment or PayPal at the end of the month it's paid to QuidCo.

Before you try again check the troubleshooting section on the quidco site and make sure your browser is properly enabled to allow the tracking cookies work properly.

I also try to avoid doing anything too complicated on the merchants site to make sure that my details are properly tracked - just click on the link from quidco and pruchase the item as quickly and as simply as possible. If anything goes wrong with my order I always exit out and start again by clicking the link from quidco, but then i'm just paranoid!

20 Aug 06 #68
Micras are small cars, but that doesn't make them cheap insurance.
Thay're still in a fairly high risk category for insurers as a lot of first time drivers get them thinking they'll be cheap all-round. Therefore a higher percentage of micra drivers have accidents and therefore claim.
To see what I mean, try gettin a quote for a 1997 peugot 306 1.9 td.
Not your typical 'first car'. It should be substantially cheaper. Things like safety devices also affect the quote, statistically your a lot less likely to crash if you have ABS, power steering and better brakes so insurers take that into consideration in their price. Experiment with different cars.
Try;
Ford Ka
Hyundai Accent
Fiat Ciequicento (spelt something like that)

Yes all you can do is use their enquiry system, I had 2 outstanding from Jan & Feb and just got an email earlier this week to say the enquiries have been successful and they expect the payments to be made in next months payment. just a thought!

if you took out a policy on a monthly debit and then cancelled after 3 months (you can do this without any penalty ie if you change cars etc). and you had been credited with the £100 quidco. where would you stand with that. would you be able to do this numerous times with different companys one after the other and keep getting the quidco after you took up each policy and then cancelled it. ie - lloyds, direct line etc. You could make a handsome profit if so ;-)
emmajk42 to damoblack
24 Sep 06 #112
But that kind of goes against quidco's ethos, and it wouldn't be recommended. If quidco noticed abuse of the merchant schemes, your account could be terminated...
grdesign
24 Sep 06 #113
Yer, the handsome profit may sound good but you would lose your account, plus you would be ruining it for everyone else. Car insurance schemes would soon lower their incentives, so we'd all be stumped if a few of your started doing that.

My renewal from churchill came in at £185.
I got a new quote online from churchill...£182 but minus £20 cashback from quidco = £162
Lloyds TSB quote came in at £204 minus £110 quidco cashback = £94.
Prudential quote came in at £182 (cheaper than Loyds because if you tick the box for having a home insurance with prudential it reduces the premium by about 10% i believe) (haven't actually got home insurance with the pru,but we'll see what happens)minus £100 quidco cashback = £82.
So to sum up all 3 are all churchill quotes as Pru and Lloyds are underwritten by Churchill.
Renewal = £185
Churchill online = £162
Lloyds = £94
Prudential = £82
Prudential win hands down after quidco as they are also better at tracking and paying than Loyds appear to be.
So i'll still be insured by churchill but £100 better off.

What I found with Prudential was that I had to contact my previous insurer and ask them for a proof of no claims document, which I then forwarded onto the pru. Once that was done everything went smoothly.

Also, as an aside, I took out my motor insurance with prudential at the start of August. The quote was for £340 which, minus the quidco £100, was an untouchable £240

Three weeks ago I wrote of my car in a stupid accident. Prudential took care of it all and have just sent me a check to cover the cost of my car.

Can't complain about the quality of their insurance one bit - very professional and great value for money.

However, I still haven't received my cashback on my quidco account :disappointed:

23 Oct 06 #143
Well I just got quotes for Prudential, LloydsTSB and Zurich and Zurich were about £90 cheaper over the year for home insurance over the others.

With Zurich I can have building insurance for £6.55 a month with the £65 quidco cashback it brings it down to £1.13 a month!!!!!!

or Buildings and contents for £15.87 a month with cashback that brings it down to £10.45 a month. That is AMAZING!

Not sure if its just my area which is why the quotes are so low but worth getting a quote if your looking for home insurance.

Well blow me down
I've just checked quidco and it's showing as received, if not quite *yet* paid. I was beginning to lose faith with quidco.

So, for sure cheapest ever insurance now
Thanks

my quidco still showing nothing received!

ob the side not, i had a letter from Pru, aksing for my NCb discount (whih is 4 years) ive not had public car insurance for a year now, and the the letter was a year old, so they asked me to write to them just to say that ive not had a public car insurance policy within the year, did that and nothing received back yet, (although i have had my policy/certificate for ages)

boydent, what link did you use on quidco to start an enquiry? i cant find a link anywhere on quidco to start an enquiry? i may start one, that may help to get me payed!

cheers

How do i go about making an enquiry on Quidco. Ive looked through the website and cannot find how to do it. I can see my earnings and getting started but no where to enquire. Its showing as tracked and due to be paid in October but nothing else. Help!

My renewal quote was £410 with Admiral. Just took out insurance with Privilege for £240 after Quidco money back. Tracked in Quidco almost imediately.

Good news, after over 2 months of waiting, my cashback from prudential has arrived in my quidco account.

So anybody else who is waiting - hold tight, it is on the way

Thanks for the reply, took me ages to find where id put this post lol.

So it means i do have to wait for my insurance to be renewed? ive only been driving 2 year so ive not had a lot of experience with car insurance. but im with churchill thru lloyds too and it costs me £65 a month. Plus thats with an extra £200 excess, so i think its £400 excess now. im 25, female, with an astra 1.6, year no claims, only driving for 2 year like. will have 2 years no claims on my next renewal date, which is january.

I know becase my car is a 1.6 my insurance is going to be high.but still ..its very expensive. i pay monthly cos i dont have the cash up front lol does prudential allow monthly payments? and is anyone else in my situation? and knows where to get a better deal?

Did anyone (else) get paperwork from the Pru recently confirming the basic level of Roadside Car Recovery? I did and rang to confirm and seems that from the start of the policy i have had it, just didn't have the paperwork

I called the AA to ask them not to restart my cover come January. They asked why and was asked too, when did the Pru cover start. So the AA have suspended my cover, backdated to early August and say i can restart it, August 07 to last for the remaining 150 odd days, superb!
barneybar
10 Dec 06 #157
I got the Roadside Recovery documents too in the post last Friday - didn't even know I was going to get it.

Have had a huge wait for my £100 cashback from Quidco - an enquiry was put in on 10th July as it didn't track. It still shows a status of 'sent to merchant'. I have asked Quidco to check with Prudential but have not had a reply to my follow up enquiry.
So over 5 months down the line and no cashback and no response from Quidco. No wonder people are moaning about the lack of feedback and updates.

I also have an enquiry just gone in through Topcashback for an untracked Prudential policy - I wonder which one I'll get first?

That is a very long time for your enquiry barney.I took mine out on Sept 25th,didn't track, put an enquiry in as soon as i could and iv'e just had confirmation that it was successful and it is now showing in my earnings as added. So it took approx 2 month to sort out.
I too got the roadside documents this week.Wondered what the hell was going on and then saw others in this thread had got them too.Don't remember seeing a thing at the time about getting this cover.
That_Bloke
10 Dec 06 #158
I got the docs from Pru as well. It said I may not have got them due to technical problems. I definately didn't take out the cover, so I wonder if they had problems tracking what people had taken and are just giving everyone the cover?

Prudential is also cheaper for me, just under £100 and I have been round loads of sites checking out quotes.

I have also just switched my house insurance to Prudential, renewal from Halifax was £230 with Prudential it was £141.75 with £75 cash back! Bargain!!!

Yayyyyy.....just got an email from quidco to say that my enquiry about my prudential £100 cashback not tracking, has been successful.:santa:Just have to wait for them to pay it to quidco now, probs another couple of months or so.:-(....but at least i am getting it,was a bit concerned i would never see it.

WOULD ASK PEOPLE TO WATCH THE OTHER EXCESS THE PRU INVOKES REGARDLESS OF VOLOUNTARY EXCESS AS LISTED BELOW FROM THE QUOTE I OBTAINED

THESE ARE IN ADDITION TO VOLOUNTARY EXCESS AGREED AND COULD MAKE MOST CLAIMS NOT WORTH YOUR WHILE

Excess payable towards windscreen claims £75
Excess payable towards fire & theft claims £250
Excess payable towards accidental damage claims:
Primary driver name Mr UPMYLOFT Excess £250
First additional driver name Mrs UPMYLOFT Excess £250

The most common reasons for imposing compulsory excesses are due to the type of vehicle, the age of the person driving or their previous driving experience. If there are any young or inexperienced* drivers allowed to drive under the policy, the following excesses will apply whilst they are in charge of your vehicle. These excesses are included in the above information.
Drivers aged 17 - 20 = £400
Drivers aged 21 - 24 = £250
Drivers aged 25 or over who are inexperienced* = £200
* An inexperienced driver is a person who either has a provisional licence or has held a full driving licence less than 1 year if issued in the UK or less than 2 years if issued elsewhere.

FOR EXAMPLE THE QUOTE AUTOMATICALLY GIVES YOU £200 VOLOUNTARY EXCESS ON FIRE, THEFT AND DAMAGE
IF YOU GO WITH THIS AND THEN YOUR CAR GETS STOLEN YOU ARE DOWN £450
IF IT GETS SET ON FIRE £450 AND IF IT GETS DAMAGED £450 EVEN IF YOU GET THE WINDSCREEN BROKEN YOU ARE HIT FOR £75 SO WATCH OUT THESE POLICIES ARE BRILLIANT UNTIL YOU HAVE TO CLAIM

upmyloft. Most insurance companies will be the same in terms of excess. All have a mandatory excess for younger or inexperienced drivers. It's just another way to hit you. They already quote based on your circumstances and then hit you with other charges.

Got our £100 cashback at the start of the month. We (the Mrs. and Me) got insurance for £188, after cashback it was £88 fully comp on an 04 Ford Ka, also got Green Flag cover thrown in for free. Don't think I could have got a better deal than that to be fair.

Reading through the comments I see people a a lot younger than me with half the no claims discount, and points still paying less.
