according to a few blogs I follow. it's a bad time to buy a laptop because laptops with a gtx1070 are been released with desktop performance.

Yep. Expect these to become heavily discounted soon.

yup, the WORST time in years. Terrible decision to buy one now. They are gonna be dumping 960m stock soon. And being honest, I would rather go for a pascal one, the difference is huge.

On the lookout for a decent gaming laptop
Is this one any good guys? can't seem to find reviews on this model.
Should I save my money and wait for something better?

Absolutely. The new 10-series GPU laptops are coming imminently. You should definitely wait if you are after serious *gaming* laptop.

For what I want something with this type of spec would be great and this is about my budget.if they are going to get even cheaper with the new ones coming out maybe I'll wait and see.

I don't think i will ever purchase a Windows machine ever again. Specs look good on paper but I know for certain that my Macbook that i paid £1200 is going to last me a solid 5 years.

Premium laptops from the likes of Asus and Dell actually have slightly lower failure rates than laptops from Apple.

On the flip side the pound is still sliding post brexit so any new stock will likely reflect the weaker pound and be 10-20% more

Good deal imo as in price. I've owned my msi gaming lappy for 18 mnths and have been very happy. IMO they're very well built (mine runs 8hrs a day- including gaming) though runs hot. My only reservation is on the graphics card, it's a bit dated now in relation to 'future proofing'

It's not a bad price for the spec. But don't expect to play any latest AAA title at anything more than medium settings, perhaps with the odd exception.

How soon is this new one coming out and the price drops. Week or days as my laptop has died and I need a new one.
Is this not slightly better processor for slightly cheaper?
No, while being an i7, it isn't a better processor as it is a lower powered one with less cores (and other stuff). Also the gpu in it is quite a bit worse. However, it is better in other ways, for example as it is a lower powered processor you will have longer battery life and less heating. Also for most light to moderate uses (such as web surfing, media consumption etc), you will not notice any difference, and should go for that and save some money

I would try to give it a week or two just to see if any really nice 960m deals appear - this is what I would do in a similar situation.

I'd wait for the 1060m, more than enough for any game at @1080p, pointless going for anything quicker unless you plug in to an external monitor(s) in which case get a desktop.

I would prefer this more if the screen was atleast 17.3".....

I guess it's down to personal preference, 15.6" is more used and has a higher pixel density than 17.3" at the same resolution

You've quoted the wrong person but the laptops featuring desktop class 10 series cards are out now. But they are not cheap. Then again the performance you're getting makes up for it.
