A great range of phones, for less. That's what you get with Like New. And if you change your mind, you have 14 days to return it.
I have been looking out to get one for my Mrs for the past week - but was out of stock. Her 1st Gen Moto G was smashed by our son - so she needed one badly........I am pleased I waited out
As my wife is not a heavy user this will do her fine.

Bit of an exaggeration....About 6 phones have been released with 6Gb of Ram and they are generally flagships, even then it's just for bragging rights, Android still doesn't need that much... 1-2Gb is the
norm for phones in this price band...
Does not matter how many times you say it, it still will not be true.

O2 allow you to unlock online for free immediately, and cancel any sim contact you might get with their deals for free too, so you can get their good deal phones, and get off their network quick fast. 'o2 refresh' do some good deals, search hukd for it and check out past/current deals. some are so good you can make money reselling the handsets. Good luck when you call them though! they're awful!

Only 1gb ram in Android phone. Will run out of memory all the time. Better spend little more and get decent phone with at least 2gb ram. Nowadays latest Android phones come with 6gb ram.

Most people prefer phones they can get from the UK with all the back up they come with as opposed to the ones you seem to be alluding to that typically are from the Far East.

Is this based on experience? Because in my experience of the moto g first gen which I'm holding in my hands now and have had for nearly 3 years this has never happened. 6GB of ram on a phone. My desktop only has 8 and that doesn't struggle with demanding tasks. 6GB of ram in a phone is nothing more than marketing bait for the have to have latest and greatest bunch.

I agree with some of what you are saying until you got to Apple. They run the older models into the ground with the new iOS updates to drive an upgrade. Or that's certainly how it feels.

I use this phone and the 1 GB of ram is fine. Been using it a couple of months. The 8gb storage is more of a restriction, but not one that has stopped me from having any apps that I wanted. That said I don't ever game on my phone.

Tried to order but it got all they way to the end, after credit card and says to check my address. Confirmed it was not my card, the bank said payment was approved but o2 did not complete. Phoned o2 and could not do an order over the phone as not in there system or tell me if anything was wrong (near perfect option did not show in their system - computer says no). Has anyone managed to purchase this recently / last few hours?

Looks like either the site is not working or no stock? expired?
I waited a week or more for these to come back into stock. Gave up and bought a new one at £99 instead, and took delivery Yesterday !!
Still very pleased with with it, and can claw some money back by selling the 3 free back covers that come with it.
As to memory and specs etc.. there seems to be an ongoing trend to must have MOAR!!! it's always better.
Not necessarily. I'm upgrading from a 512mb Huawei G300 that was still able to do everything I wanted out of a phone (all be it slowly), so I'm sure this Moto G3 will do just fine, first impressions confirm this.
I don't want to listen to my music from the cloud, whilst playing GTA, and Twittering on FaceChatWhatsLinkdBook, whilst controlling my heating at home.
I did also consider the Idol 3 (whilst it was a tenner more) but decided the backup from Alcatel would not match Moto, almost all mentions I found of Alcatel stated their support was almost non existent. Much the same story with Wileyfox ...
If you can get one of these at this price then I would say it's a bargain for a good reliable phone that will do what most people want of it.

Idol 3 did get updated to Marshmallow though and it was meant to be a really nice update, sometimes its impatience and not lack of support.
Will support continue the same with moto g now its owned by Lenovo?
To be honest I've never understood the need to always be updating, its not always the case, the latest is the greatest.
Anyone who wants a moto g should use the" Email me when you have stock" on Vodafone, or just check periodically, they have been going in and out of stock all week, they had some yesterday.

If it's anything like the brand new one I bought, they don't charge up front for the credit, they just send a SIM for you to TopUp to activate it. I already use a GiffGaff SIM so just used that (no unlock necessary, another reason I bought from O2) and have just stuck the O2 SIM in a drawer.

I'm also still on a first gen Moto G and it works, but I'm frequently aware of it being a low ram device with it's pauses, slow downs and screen redraws.

Not really. I know so many people who bought shiny new Samsung or other branded cut price phones having trouble due to less ram memory. Tablets have also now started coming with 4gb ram. Only windows mobile and apple IOS can run properly on 1gb ram. Even then new iPhone has 3gb ram

Samsung phones use a skinned version of Android which requires more RAM to run smoothly than stock Android.
The Moto G uses (virtually) stock Android, so will be fine for most people.
Also the iPhone 6S (and likely the iPhone 7 too) has 2GB of RAM, not 3.
sam_of_london
13 Aug 16#45
No not really. You have to run a memory cleaner like clean master all the time to reclaim memory. I have seen other Chinese white phones all fail due to less memory. Only solution is to use memory manager to aggressivly close apps and reclaim memory.

The screen res has an effect on Ram, if you are running 1080 then yes 2gb, at 720 1gb is ok. As for 8gb rom....
BigYoSpeck to winchman
14 Aug 16#48
1080p over 720p only needs about an extra 36mb frame buffer space, but requires 225% of the computing power to render so the limitation going up in resolution is more the cpu and gpu power needed to draw than memory capacity.
1gb is adequate to use on a phone, but it is noticeably worse than 2gb or more depending on the apps you use. Lags, screen redraws and app switching just aren't butter smooth with a 1gb phone. I can live with my 1gb Moto G, but as soon as a good value replacement comes on the market I can't wait to be rid of it.
It's still usable, but it's just frustrating opening apps and waiting as it purges other apps from memory.
