Lots of playing time for £10. I enjoyed this up to a very specific point then felt it was a bit of a let down from there. Those who have completed it will know what I mean.

I thought it was a let down after the intro.

Just platinumed this yesterday. Man, it was long. Not even sure I enjoyed it really. Story was patchy at best. I won't be recommending it to people.

i thought it was one of the best games of the past 10 years, game-play is phenomenal thats the reason it is rated so highly,
I got about 500 hours out of it

This game feels nothing like a MGS game, there is no cinematic quality to it, Have to agree it was a massive let down.

its funny, i thought mgs 4 was a total letdown because it was too focused on cut-scenes and storyline
its like kojima wanted to go the opposite way with the phantom pain and focus more heavily on the game-play
which i for one really liked,

"No cinematic quality to it"? The intro is an hour long cinematic masterpiece that rivals many movies that I have seen! Are you sure you played the right game?

To be fair, I've never felt any MGS has held up to the Brilliant PS1 release.. and i will admit it wasnt a bad game,

All out of stock. Them pesky bulk buyers again.

how do you know bulk buyers are to blame?
I don't think you'd be able to turn a decent enough profit on this to encourage bulk buying anyway.

Besides which, I've never played an MGS game.

Nah i get what he is saying, im a huge MGS fan, and there was a severe lack of the "typical" cut-scenes we normally get when playing the series, and a lack of some dialogue from Snake was such a let down. I personally thought MGSV was a huge let down ( and im the person who loves MGS for its story and cinematics ) i spent my whole 70 Hour playtime thinking " oh i cant wait for the story to progress" and it barely does unfortunately, such a damn shame! Alot of people seemed to freaking love it though and im struggling to see why, all i can think is that this might be the first MGS game they played or they never took the series as seriously as me, but then they must not have a clue what is going on if they haven't played the other games. Very confusing

Yeah fair play if you enjoyed it, i have friends who also loved it, but i just struggle to understand why, granted certain elements were very good. what did you like about it?

The missions were just very well set out I thought. I enjoyed setting everything up before a mission, the micro management of the base and then when on a mission I like that you are never told what to do. You need to find your own way of doing the mission. Loud or quiet, in a vehicle or on foot all left up to the player. Then the size of the game. I put around 150 hours into the game and still didn't finish it. Different strokes n all that but to say it wasn't cinematic is incorrect in my eyes.

the quality and attention to detail is just immense. the environments are a bit sparse and samey but you can see why they had to sacrifice something given the sheer amount of effort that went into the AI, tools, events etc. It's just so much fun tormenting the poor enemy.

What I mean is MGS has generally been a very linear game, a path you follow along the way you meet outlandish bosses all which progress a story, from the very start of MGS you can see the influence that Kojima has in Movies.
I mean MGS on PS1 the opening scenes is pretty much Escape From New York even down to the Names and Appearance, I believe John Carpenter gave Kojima his blessing on this.
as such it set the style and tone of Metal Gear & Solid.. that style has remained throughout the series up until Phantom Pain..
This is where it changes, and I suspect as its a prequel but for me, it ruins the series as a whole, its a different game completely and not a MGS game.. really I think it should of been title Metal Gear Venom as to show its a different game really.
