OK guys, hope someone can benefit from this?
I'm taking my kids on a theme park tour of the UK later this month and was looking for the cheapest way to get my tickets and this turned out to be the best option for us.
Let's take the standard family pass as an example, but this works with all types of passes:
Currently, Merlin have reduced their MAP family tickets to £129 each, but you can get a further 20% off this price with an "over the phone" code.
There are a few codes floating around on the internet, but I wanted to be legit, so I signed up for the £1 3 month trial for the Gourmet Society card, which entitles you to 20% discount on the MAP (see below).
You can sign up here:
https://www.gourmetsociety.co.uk/
It only takes a minute and you get a membership number, which you aren't asked for on the phone by the way. :wink:
Once done, phone Merlin on 08444 77 44 44 and quote "Gourmet" at some point in the conversation, thus reducing the MAP from £129 to £103.20.
As mentioned above, this also works for both types of standard and premium passes.
I've seen people selling this code on eBay for £10!

Standard Individual MAP - £169 reduces to £135.20
Standard Family MAP - £129 reduces to £103.20
Premium Individual MAP - £209 reduces to £167.20
Premium Family MAP - £169 reduces to £135.20

It should be noted that a family can be 3, 4, 5 or 6 people (see below).
Family of 3 – consisting of either two individuals 12 years of age and over and one individual under 12 years of age, or one individual 12 years of age and over and two individuals under 12 years of age;
Family of 4 – consisting of either two individuals 12 years of age and over and two individuals under 12 years of age, or one individual 12 years of age and over and three individuals under 12 years of age;
Family of 5 – consisting of either two individuals 12 years of age and over and three individuals under 12 years of age, or one individual 12 years of age and over and four individuals under 12 years of age;
Family of 6 – consisting of either two individuals 12 years of age and over and four individuals under 12 years of age, or one individual 12 years of age and over and five individuals under 12 years of age.

If anyone doesn't know, the Merlin Annual Pass gets you a year's worth of free entry to Alton Towers, Thorpe Park, Chessington World of Adventures, LEGO Land, Sealife Centres, The Dungeons, Blackpool Tower, Madame Tussauds, Warwick Castle and more.
You also get exclusive pass holder benefits, such as 20% off Theme Park accommodation, discounts in the theme parks, discounts on entry for friends and family, discounts on food and drink and more.

Two questions
1) how much will be cost for 1 premium adult and 2 standard passes for 2 adults plus one child, can I get family rate for both premium and standard passes
2) for child who is less than three, will we still be able to take him free when he reaches 3 during the annual pass duration?

cutthroat_jake
16 Aug 16 #70
You need the family of 6 tickets (1 adult and 5 kids), then another family of three ticket (1 adult and 2 kids), so the cost would be:
8 x £103.20 for the standard passes = £825.6
or 8 x £135.20 for the premium passes = £1,081.60

Hello Everyone,

If you have paid for the membership, then you can download their smartphone app (android and apple). Then use the reference number from the invoice and append "aa" to that at the start along with the 3 month expiry date of the membership when sigining in to their app. You will then have access to your digital membership card. The card can be viewed buy picking any venue and a link on the bottom of the screen will display your card.

if you are unsure call their free line number 0800 043 1978.

Happy days all.

Regards,
ezepze

I bought the pass last week after signing up for the trial membership at Gourmet, and was not asked to bring along the card as a proof when I collected the pass from London Sealife Aquarium. They did ask for the membership number on the phone though, but you get that when you sign up immediately on an email. Might be worth trying to call them again and see how a different customer rep deals with your call

That seems a rather unreasonable expectation, given that there are really quite a few corporate discount codes easily accessible on the internet. For example, a childcare voucher provider gives the same discount, see http://www.computersharevoucherservices.com/parents/Documents/Merlin_Pricing_2016.pdf
(plenty more if you google "merlin pass 103.20") and surely there is no need to provide evidence that one belongs to the scheme?
