In direct answer to your question, I'm 36, when I went to school there was no where near as many cars on the roads as there are today, and it doesn't even need to be dark to "not see a child". I have known of 3 children killed on the roads in my 36 years [in all 3 cases the driver was not drinkings nor speeding], I wonder if brighter clothing would have enabled the driver see them beforehand - we cant have a Sliding Doors scenario, so I can't answer my own question, but I do know it's just too sad.

It's a simple jacket, on offer at £2, that could allow a child to be seen. Does it affect your life? Maybe, actually, it has and would, if you've ever been driving in the dark (or even in the day for that matter), and a parent has had the foresight to ensure their child can be seen, it would not have crossed your mind, as you saw the child. Ask someone who may have hit a child and see what their thoughts are on this matter? I have a feeling you're against speed humps in residential areas too, and possibly speed cameras. We all moan, never thinking how many may have died or been severely injured. Until it touches your own life. Ask a Road Traffic Officer, or Road Incident Investigator what they think!

Turn your bitterness into positivity, as one day, god forbid, one of us could be that driver. We parents need to be responsible for our kids, and that means making sure they can be seen at night [and day] to protect them, and to protect the possible innocent driver who was simply going about their own business.

And children have needlessly died without them, why risk it?

Great. Just ordered for my 2 year old for when we walk my older boy to school. No pavements here as we're very rural. All kids at the school are issued with them here, so definitely not health and safety gone mad! Most of us have survived our childhood without these, but there are lots of accidents involving children on the roads every year and maybe using these could have saved some of those lives.

Just out of interest did you have a hse jacket on when you went too school???? are you alive??? because literally billions of people manage to survive without one

When you have 3 children under 6 that go in totally different directions whenever they just decide to make a run for it at least I can find them easier. Have lost a child before for a few minutes.
