LG’s superb screen blends rich HDR with eye-popping ColourPrime Pro to deliver something simply beautiful. Not only will your shows and movies get a luscious new lick of paint, you’ll keep connected to all your favourite apps with the brand’s state-of-the-art webOS 3.0 Smart platform. Backed by a brilliant ULTRA Surround sound and sleek slim design, this delightful TV will work wonders in your living room.
Stunning ColourPrime Pro HDR
Forays into colour-boosting High Dynamic Range (HDR) have begun, and LG are one of the forerunners. As members of the newly-founded UHD Alliance, they've blended HDR with ColourPrime Pro to deliver staggering colour depth. This means that there are far more colours to deepen your view and show shades you’ve never seen in home entertainment before. LG’s HDR Pro bridges the gap between what we see on-screen and what we see in real life, making for an otherworldly picture that will knock your socks off.
Outstanding True Black Contrast
LG’s True Black panel has a clever anti-glare film that scatters harsh lights on the screen to clamp down on distracting reflections. This way, you’ll notice blacker blacks on the picture, making it all-the-more eye-popping.
Fabulous 4K
To respond to screens getting bigger, brands have packed their screens with more pixels. This 50-inch screen has four times the number of pixels than 1080p HD TVs, delivering stunning realism, natural motion and incredible detail. Experience this high-spec picture across a range of broadcasts, movies, sports and more thanks to 4K upscaling. As it converts lower resolution content to near-4K quality, anything you watch on the big screen will be truly extraordinary.

I have the 58 inch version and although they say HDR a lot, this TV does not have full HDR compliance, it's just HDR compatible meaning it will display HDR content but won't have the full gamut. However, gimmicks aside, this TV has superb black levels and picture quality and that's all that matters surely?

Thanks for clearing that up, sick of these sly ways that companies false advertise :smirk:

Is this a mis-price by JL as they state:
Save £50 until 13.10.2016 (was £799.95 from 02/07/2016-03/08/2016)
they use that on the lower models but I do not know about the recent one

That is shocking, can't believe manufacturers can get away with that.
This whole 'is it a 4k or UHD TV' 'Is it only HDR10 compatible' is just confusing for customers - worse than the old 'HD / full hd, what if its a 1024x768 plasma'. Never heard of rgbw until now, its just something else to look out for! And don't even get me started on audio formats!
I'm not touching LG now because of the whole RGBW scenario. Lost a customer. You have no idea if you are buying a proper UHD TV. Anyone know if this is true 4k?

Yeah it's wrong to put HDR on the box when it's not HDR10 compliant. When I go into the options on mine, I have a picture option called HDR mode but it just seems to add more colour to the picture. I still think HDR is overated and will no doubt become the norm in a few years. The TV is incredible and I play a lot of games on my PC and Xbox One, and watch blurays and the picture quality is the best I've ever had, and I owned a 50 inch Sony 50W829 previously and that was an awesome set but this LG blows it away in the game mode and movie mode straight out of the box.

Can I ask what's it like at standard def I.e. Non HD freeview?

Hmm I wouldn't purchase any new TV if Standard definition is your main source. I generally watch only Sky HD channels, stream HD from Netflix/amazon or play blurays. I haven't had a lot of viewing in standard definition but what I have watched is very average of a new TV, mine is the 58" version so I suppose it shows the blemishes even more, it's quite 'cloudy' if that makes sense, it's not unwatchable but you can tell when you aren't in HD that's for sure.

Back in stock at JL for £699. My software updated today with a new version that includes Freeview Play with scrollback (like YouView) - so you can now go backwards in the program guide and it will then play the program using catchup TV streaming.

As far as I'm aware this is NOT an RGBW set... but LG really shot themselves in the foot with that nonsense, hard to trust them now for sure! This is at least an MVA panel though, not IPS like most of the LG's, so it will have better blacks. Still, I think the Samsung KU6400 49" is a better buy vs this, and that's £100 cheaper (baring any super Black Friday deals we may see).

WHOAH hang on everyone... I need to retract my previous statement. According to the official LG site this is an IPS panel, not MVA as displayspecifications states. That means it's almost certainly RGBW. Stay away, stay away!!

This website seems to say the UH63 does not use IPS:
Well all that article says is that "...it does not use an IPS panel, according to LG. The company refuses to specify the type of panel." Yet on the LG website the DO specify that it DOES use an IPS panel. That article is from March 2016 before the TV was released or the product page on LG's website went live. So only LG can really confirm this, but it would seem likely that the LG website is going to be the most reliable source, rather than an article written before the TV was even available.

I've checked my screen and it is RGBW - I took a close up picture and zoomed in and you can see the four pixels in a row - I think this is fine as the LG screens to avoid are the ones where they replace some of the RGB pixels with a W pixel. With this screen you are getting 3840 RGBW pixels in a row.
