Except that most people watch on demand that is starting to be transmitted such as Netflix & Amazon Prime ... Not sure about others, I watch 87.2% of my TV via on demand services.

Really? most of my friends are netflix addicts ...! You are right - only about 24% of households have Netflix - but it will mean that 24% of households will have the potential connection to 4k streams (if they have good enough connections)

Not a Hot vote for the TV as LG make pretty duff TV's but for the rest which is a stonking lot of extras - and it's not even Christmas (that was July, on QVC so sorry if you missed it - but happy Easter everyone).

​The difference is very clear in 40 inch TV as well. 4k is set of technologies not just only the screen.

I have and only the good (read expensive) 4k sets have a good picture. Picture detail is only one facet of screen performance...

​Wrong! 1080p signal will look better on a 1080p tv. On a 4k tv there is not enough data so the TV has to "guess" the missing data. This is known as upscacling and my not be as good as the native picture.
