I do agree with you though. I suppose manufacturers assume that as you generally hold a tablet further away from your eyes than you would a smartphone, then they can get away with screens of lower pixel densities.
Low pixel density screens do have their advantages though - fewer pixels to power means less of a burden on the CPU and battery.

I use an Nvidia shield @£150 although more expensive, it has it all! HD resolution, Joypad support, Android 6, Nvidia and PC streamed gaming, and up to 128gb micro sd.
and almost double the price, what are you comparing??

Bought this a week ago. Got the white with blur details which makes it look like a toy. Black would have been better. Performs well. Make sure you have a class 10 sd card if you intend to use external storage. I had a class 4 which wouldn't load apps and crash them.
Also for some reason YouTube started to lag and play muted. No idea why so had to reboot which fixed it.

bought this for the little one, it is aimed at kids with a kids mode to keep them safe online.
its quite slow regarding the spec, 2gb ram. bit dissapointed really
all in all i think its an ok tablet in its price point, but will be useless in a year.
argos seem to be its only seller.

I may be more interested now in this tablet, now that I know that I can use this case
currently on a Samsung galaxy note 8.0, I picked it up a year or two on black Friday for the same price! loved it but it's battery is getting a tad dodgey and android 4.4.2 feels old so I was nearly getting this as a replacement! minus the fact it's a downgrade! screens the same, and the cpu is worse 1.6 vs 1.0/1.3... this will run like crap in my opinion, same really as it's great at a glance!

Usually technology gets cheaper, but a year after buying a Hudl2 from Tesco there is nothing like it around for similar money. The only one I found was the Chuwi Hi8 Pro on Ebay which sells for around £80 and has an 8" 1920x1200 screen, but that's not one you can pick up in the shops.

i have hudl and kindle fire hd 8.9. as people say: few others match these specs wise. but that is because these were subsidised to encourage you to buy services eg prime, blinkbox. which is why i got them as best bang for buck (particularly as got kindle fire second hand!)

Part of the problem with the Hudl 2 was that it used an Intel processor - Intel have effectively dropped out of the non-Windows market, so ongoing support for updates is an issue for most of the Interl based 'Droids, both on an app and OS level.
Personally, I'm still using a Nexus 7 2013, which is better than most tablets under £150 imho.

Seems Argos are trying to get rid because this has been on offer for weeks. Dont know if anyone else is selling it. Its not bad for the price but I suspect it has a limited timescale because Lenovo are not exactly plugging it.

Well, even if Lenovo don't upgrade this to Nougat, it will still run an OS that's one generation newer than the other equivalently priced models. They will probably never see Marshmallow, let alone Nougat!

It may be running a current Android version today, but I doubt it will on Monday. And according to https://support.lenovo.com/gb/en/solutions/ht501098 , there are no upgrade plans for this tablet. Together with the poor resolution and the poor track record of Lenovo when it comes to issues, I would give this a miss.
Unfortunately, the Android tablet market is a bit stagnant, with the best player (Sony) kind of quitting, and a lot of cheaper options disappearing (like the Tesco Hudl). If you can afford it, I would recommend the Sony Z3 Tablet. Yes, it is more than twice as expensive, but it plays in a league of its own.

Very useful but not many seem to have that output, shame as for me it is a dealbreaker.
I looked at this next to an Asus ZenPad Z580C and the difference in screen quality blew me away. Having seen the difference I couldn't bring myself to get the Lenovo. No matter how cheap.
However, this price is good though (if the screen resolution doesn't bother you) so I'm voting hot.

Yeah, the Nook HD comparison was just to the screen. But I'm not all that convinced as to how much faster than the Hudl2 it would be, but can't find performance comparisons
I'm just disappointed at the lack of full HD in so many tablets nowadays.

With that screen resolution, the significantly older Hudl2 is better (although not on sale as new). Not Marshmallow, but disappointed that so many of the cheap tablets (except for Chinese imports) don't have full HD screen to compare with the Hudl2.
Lesser resolution than your Nook HD too (which is 1440x900).

But this will be noticeably faster than both - my Nook HD surely has a nice screen but its chipset and RAM is way too obsolete for me. Getting really tired of my Spotify and SoundCloud music suddenly stopping while browsing a slightly demanding website in Chrome.
