Had a perfectly acceptable shave on Sunday with the new blades on Sunday, no pulls, cuts or missed hairs... I'm no testosterone fuelled gorilla though!

Used RS Co shaving cream if it's any interest.

Mine landed this morning, going to have a shave ASAP as some of these comments have left me doubting my own opinion & experiences :laughing:

I've tried these before and was disappointed, I'm no shaving snob but found them to be very uncomfortable to shave with compared to the Gillette Mach 3. I currently use a Gillette Fusion razor and the very cheap and cheerful Palmolive shaving soap sticks, and the only time I find it uncomfortable is if I have 4+ days worth of stubble which can "grab" a little on the blades. I've recently gotten one of the Cornerstone trial razors but have yet to use it, I'll post on here if I do try it whilst the thread is still active.

Not much love for the King of shaves blades but I find they work great for me; a close shave with a long lasting edge at a good price.

For this money it's worth a try, if you don't like them just give them to the missus for her hairy needs... Saves wear & tear on your preferred blades!

Note: These are the "Azor" blade and handle which had been replaced by the newer "Hyperglide 5 blade". Take care with the 5 blade as it has a "trimming" blade protruding from the rear. I have cut my fingers in the trimming blade and have slashed my face with it - as it has a propensity for the head to flip if you have slippery hands. Far too dangerous in my opinion, but after following recommendations here, I now use the Gillette Xtreme and won't go back.

You don't need to sterilize the area unless the environment in which you are shaving is unclear to start with. Clean the brush and razor and don't drop it in the sink.

Yeah, hence use a proper post-shave moisturizer (which will be correspondingly thinner) rather than a regular one.

My best top tip to you all..... Buy a duel edge razor - pennies per blade, and finish with distilled witch hazel...

The idea of the very hot water is that it help sterilise the area as you shave.

A good shave will really open up the pores in your skin. It's a great time to clean them out and prevent bacterial build-up that leads to zits and infection. Once clean, an application of after shave (flavoured alcohol) helps close the clean pores down. Sure it will dry out the skin, which is why you should moisturise regularly, but your skin should end up healthier.

Applying a moisturiser to dirty open pores just seals in the bacteria and gives you spots and blackheads. Never apply moisturiser to dirty skin for this reason.

Would just modify some of the advice above somewhat. Don't use water that's very hot or very cold - as it's not great for the skin. Don't use cologne on bare skin afterwards - you shouldn't need the mild antiseptic effect it provides and it'll dry out the skin - use a post shave moisturiser of some kind, body shop and bulldog do perfectly serviceable ones at a reasonable price.

Don't forget to budget for the other razor you'll need to get the actual job done!

I use an Akor soap stick.

Fill wash-hand basin with hot water and moisten face with water as it's heating up coming out the tap. Drop shave brush into water. Turn tap off when water is hot in basin.
"Paint" face with shave stick, a really thin film of soap and then lather it with your brush that is now soaked with hot water.
Shave, rinsing razor in hot water between swipes. Don't be afraid to take your time.
Take a facecloth and run it under tap - I've got a mixer tap so tend to turn it to cold and let the hot water still in the pipe hit the cloth first and then cover my face with it. Let the plug out the basin and run the now cold water over the facecloth and cover my face with it again.
Then I use a lemon based Turkish aftershave cologne for a fresh feel.

Having one of lifes other simple pleasures - a sh1t - is best taken after, so you're not shaving in your own stench.

Good quality soap or cream, the price is usually an indicator. I use Proraso products which I buy from my local barber - he uses them for wet shaves in store.

You don't shave with soap, you shave with water - hence the term wet shave. The problem is that water runs off your face and dries out too quickly. So the trick is to find a way to get the water to stick to your face - we use soap for that.

You should wash your face and then rinse it as wet as you can and then apply soap from a shaving bowl using a badger bristle brush.

Water should be as hot as the tap will allow. Immerse the brush completely for several seconds then circle it around in the soap to create a nice lather to be applied to your face. Then work it around in circles for a good minute to ensure all the hairs have soaked up the water and a nice lather layer has been built up.

You want wet lather, not dry foam.

I think you can actually subscribe on the king of shaves website. I think it is only £2.99 for 4 heads (may not be these particular blades though have not checked).

In my search for cheaper alternatives to Gillette, I found these really bad to shave with. Finally ended up moving to double edge and never looked back.

The key to a good shave is not the blade, it's the soap. Foams and gels are rubbish.

If the OP is happy with shave gel, it perhaps explains why he's also happy with King of Shaves blades - he's perhaps never had a good shave to compare them to?

Used these for a while, and then went back to gilette fusion. You could get a good shave with them but they do scrape your face a bit. Often half price in the supermarkets for the razor, if anyone is looking to try

Forget Adamantium...forget Unobtainium...according the Website these blades are coated with ENDURIUM!

I found these very poor razors, will never use them again. Each to their own I suppose.

Please don't buy this it's often half price in tesco very often as poor seller I was cut to bits got a Gillette fusion and razor sharp blades last months
