I've had these in the past and whilst I'd agree with ghostm4n about buying an alarm without delay if you haven't got one, I would recommend the Fireangel CO-9D over the kidde one. When the batteries start to go on these they will trigger and it's not hugely clear from the instructions if it's detecting a low level of carbon monoxide or the batteries are running low. At 3am in the morning when it's firing off, you just want to know whether or not to get your family out of the house or you just need new batteries, not blearily leaf through the instructions trying to interpret intermittent beeping. The Fireangel has got a proper display which shows the actual CO levels as well as historical levels and a clear indication if there is a problem. Also has a thermometer built in as an added bonus. I realise you only get one for the price but it's nice to see at a glance exactly what the CO levels are, not wait 30 second intervals for a barely visible green LED to blink.

Agree, I have the CO-9D and it's a great bit of kit, worth adding that it also comes with a power kit built in which should last 7 years!
