We need a computer for homework plus mine craft for son who wants to be the next Stampy. Would this do the job or do I need to get anything extra as have also got older gaming mad son.

Don't know what Stampy is but this is mega overkill for homework and Minecraft.
From earlier comments looks like there's no OS, so you'll need to get Windows or Linux, and there won't be a keyboard, mouse or screen included.

Those tax rebates are brilliant aren't they?
I know it isn't actually a gift and is really my own money but I still feel like I am getting a present from HMRC.

Question on the VR ready... Anyone have more information on this aspect as I'm looking for a VR ready pc for vive/oculus but waiting until the right price appears... This looks interesting !? Thanks

This will work fine for both the Vive and Oculus, this is really a good price for the specs. My grphics card is a gtx 970, so not as good as this one and my Vive works perfectly.

This would do admirably and then some, even if your kid has aspirations of being in Child Genius.

It should meet the minimum/capable level for VR just fine. I have an i5-3570K and an RX480, which is slightly less powerful than this system, and it runs my Vive fine for me.

If it's only for gaming you won't need more than i5. You should rather use the extra money to get better gpu like 1070 or 1080

Probably a stupid question, but where does the DVD drive go on this?

It's the graphics card that has 6GB of DDR5 memory. Misleading title really.

windows 10, buy it?! LOL. no srs its really cheap atm.
but the fact this doesnt come with built in wifi is kinda sketch :/
The case doesn't support 5.25" drives so you would need an external DVD drive

Very close in performance (basically equal) but the 1060 draws considerably less power

It says a DVD drive is included though. Bit worrying if that is false.

Whilst the case doesn't support 5.25" drives, the website itself specifies that it comes with a DVD drive.
It's probably a mistake though and I agree with derp1664 that it probably doesn't come with one and you'd need to buy an external one.

I won't lie.. I didn't even look at the link, my bad
Was just replying because I'm familiar with these cases.
I assume they are either including a USB DVD drive (which seems unlikely) or it's a mistake.

No sweat  But yes, I believe you certainly can download the key from MSDN, enjoy you lucky duck!
I'm borderline impressed, it's a decent build but needs the SSD to get the full bang for your buck (250 Samsung Evo will do the job nicely, and you could add the Seagate 2TB for document storage). However, this brings the cost to ~£700 off the bat. If nothing else, please add the SSD, you will regret it if you don't.
I would expect this machine would suit most people ITT  Solid for gaming and overkill for everyday word documents and web browsing
