Oh, now I understand! Anything YOU say is constructive but when others have an opinion that differs from yours it is seen as Fan boyism or Apple bashing. May be use 1 of those ipads of yours to look up what ' constructive feedback' means.

(Rolls eyes) There's always one who likes to hate (apple, Microsoft, Android, Zx Spectrums etc) rather than provide constructive feedback. The point I was making was that the aspect ratio has no impact on comic reading at all on an Ipad. Been doing it for years, not bought a paper version since (bar the judge dredd collection for the kids) and as a comic reader of over 35 years I'm pretty qualified to have an opinion.
The retina comment was to let people know that it's a great experience these days not 'buy apple'...Although now to bring karmic balance to the universe I have to say 'Buy Apple' Lol

The point I'm making is the aspect ratio, 4:3 on an ipad, doesn't suit comic book reading that well.
Also, retina is just marketing bs - any screen with a ppi of over 300 could be considered retina, Apple or otherwise.

I disagree...been using Ipads for years (Original Ipad, Ipad 2, Ipad 3, Ipad 4 and now Air 2 lol)...only thing I read them on (retina screens make all the difference).

All over this.
Went on holiday a few weeks back and read Wytches, Trees and Stray Bullets from a previous humble bundle. First time I'd ever read a comic and I was blown away. I'm on the lookout for a 12" HD tablet now if anyone can recommend one.

Yeah I went for years without reading a comic before the humble bundles, now I buy every one and I've even picked up adaptations of some of my favourite authors books(Arronovitch and Butcher), I also really enjoyed the Star Trek comic bundle they did the recent ones are excellent, and the Fathom series is great. You still couldn't pay me to read a Marvel or a DC those are just convoluted nonsense still best suited to teenagers, but Dark Horse, Image etc. have proper comics and graphic novels for adults and they are fantastic.
As to a good reader well it's pricey, but I have a surface book and it is absolutely the perfect thing for reading these, although you would probably do just as well with a cheaper but still good regular surface, the book just edges out because it has that amazing screen.

You don't really need a 12'' tab. I read fine on my 10.1'' Nexus 10 with comicrack as it scales the comics to fit. Avoid ipads as the aspect ratio doesn't work that well with comics.
