Out of contract with Sky and it gives you access to a decent guide without all the channels listed you can't watch (that really does my head in) will also give you recording functionality.
Personally I don't have a working TV aerial but I have a working Satellite dish

do any of these boxes replicate the sky magic eye type functionality? I no longer have sky subscription but have the sky box at the minute as it's fed into 3 other rooms via the RF output. would like to have ability to record though

So this basically just gives you a few extra channels over normal freeview yet in HD, correct?
I'ts a bit of a swings-and-roundabouts situation, overall there is not much difference between FS and FV although worth noting there's no CH4+1 HD or 4Seven HD on FS

Worth knowing that if you do pair an external HDD with this box it encrypts the recordings - you won't be able to access them independently (e.g. via a pc). Been using one of these for a few months now, very pleased with it overall. Apart from the fact that it only has 1 tuner (you can't watch something different whilst recording) and it takes a while to boot up, it works very well and provides a lot of features for a budget price.

Last time I looked this was around £80-90 new, so provided the refurbers have done a good job it's a great post. Well played!

In all honesty probably a factory reset, wipe over with a damp cloth and new plastic ties on the cables :smirk:

Reviews suggest this can also be used as a recorder with an External USB HDD connected.

Fantastic! We live in a block of flats wired for satellite and terrestrial TV, but the terrestrial signal is awful, even with a booster my TV's struggling. Satellite on the other hand had absolutely no problems (except my TV's built in satellite tuner wasn't proper freesat so it got every single channel, didn't name them properly, etc.)
