In general to reply to a few comments on here - I was looking for a UHD tv after the euros and sort of missed the bubble in terms of the prices - generally for the money hisense had good reviews - i ended up buying a refurbed 43 inch hisense about a week ago and from my experience of that i can say that overall you get a lot of bang for your buck - youtube is good, normal tv tuner is good, games generally are good, plays 4k (watched lucky pete on amazon prime - looked good - not much 4k content available atm), blu ray good, sound is solid, headphone port is good (a point which never gets mentioned but i appreciate as a feature) - the only negative i have experienced with my set (which might be specific to my set) - is an uneven backlight when playing fifa 16 - this may be related the hz of the set or just be specific to my set, but it's a bit annoying - overall very good - i especially like, as mentioned before, the integrated youtube app

(it's pretty easy to set picture presets - i found that the tv was more sensitive to bright and darkness than my previous set so i had to fiddle with the picture a bit to get my desired picture and for different input i will change the picture settings)

in terms of gaming - destiny on the ps4 is fine - as mentioned before there is a pc/game function - no real lag that i've noticed

i think hisense wanted to make an impact on the market with their pricing and marketing of this tv and in general it's unlikely that you'll be able to find an equivalent set for anywhere close to this price - hence why amazon seem to be struggling with keeping up with the order demands

if you're not in a big rush for a tv but want to upgrade soonish it may be worth putting an order in and then cancelling if something better pops up in the mean time

Not too bad price wise but IMHO you need bigger than 40" to appreciate 4K unless you are going to be VERY close to the screen (e.g. using it as a PC monitor).

Bought this tv when it was last on HUK, for a slightly higher price of £269 so at this price I would definitely recommend it.

For a tv to go in the bedroom it is ideal and i am very happy with the picture quality and the functions it has on offer

Got this when it was on AO.com at £279 last month. Not going to vote hot or cold on this as the set I got has a terrible issue with the backlight with noticeable clouding visible in darker scenes. SD was absolutely appalling on it, washed out and fuzzy, not sure if it's related to the former issue. 4K and HD looked good, but then I'd have to only watch stuff with no darker scenes. Reading up on it, seems I'm not the only one who's had this problem. At least Amazon's returns is more straightforward than AO.com.

I agree, I tend not to watch SD material. But there are some things such as local BBC news where there isn't a choice.

My only reference point - my father in law just paid 2k for a 65 inch 4k, seated 13ft away. I wanted to be honest and told him his old 55" panny plasma was far superior imho.

I've been looking to upgrade for about 3 months, I sit about 15ft from my 55 panny and there is nothing I've seen 4k that convinces me it's superior, however, my daughters' use the converted dining room (sloth room) for PS and Netflix etc and they sit about 5ft from the TV - I'm going to buy a 40" 4k for that room.

This is HDMI 2.0 only, not 2.2, so you're not going to get 4K resolution from any external device.

You may get 4K if it has the built-in Netflix app, but you won't get 4K from anything like Sky Q, or Xbox One S consoles etc.

Almost got this tv a while back but ended up with a basic 1080 Sony. SD is terrible on 4k sets and struggle on normal DVD. This along with HDR the format not being confirmed and HDMI 2.2 etc made me wait a few more years.

Anyone's nus discount working ? Amazon selling but no 5% . ( as it's a pre order mibbe )

Thats not much of a surprise really. the Blu-ray will more than likely be a very high bitrate potentially more than double the bitrate of the Netflix 4K video thus its very possible that you could not spot the difference.

If you think about it to get a comparable picture you would need a source that has 4 times the bitrate of a Blu-ray for a proper comparison due to the 4 times increase in picture (Codecs can obviously make a difference as the newer ones are more efficient).

I got the digihome 48" 4k from tesco. Im wanting to watch some 4k content on it but the tvs built in apps are very limited with only youtube and netflix for 4k content and i dont have a netflix account. :disappointed:

I do have prime instant video but dont have the 4k fire tv stick. Is it possible to watch prime video in 4k from a pc? And if so do you use the web player or app? I have a gtx970 so have hdmi2.0.

i'm not sure i haven't explored the option - i know you can watch the 4k sample videos on youtube - i'd imagine you would be able to do so yes - there's not much content about atm - i just needed a new tv and wanted to future proof a bit - it'll become more prevalent over time

on amazon the only 4k stuff is generally their own series that they produce - so not loads of content on their either and netflix is fairly meh - it's nice to watch 4k if the option is there though

if it says it's due for delivery on Friday then it probably will get delivered then - you probably ordered slightly before the other people who have been pushed back

it seems like the demand for this model has outstripped the supply - hisense at this point will be focusing on next years iterations of 4k tvs - making these ones pretty hard to get - amazon probably hoping for some cancellations so that they can actually cover what stock they receive

for those waiting - it might be worth waiting longer but also maybe look at alternatives and watch them on ukcamelcamel, setting up an alert for when said model drops to a price you're willing to spend

the current problem is that there is a big difference in price between this model and other decent models of 40 inch 4k tv - there's some similarly priced trash out there for about £250 or lower - but they tend to be worse than a lot of 1080p tvs - most tvs of good ish quality at this size start around £400 after this one (some minor exclusions aside)

I would say it OK for a second TV. but the colours are off so you need to play with it. not plug and go like my lg 4k. :confused:

it was bought for my newly built summerhouse - now winterhouse given the wait! super excited to get it mounted on the log cabin wall!

new TV arrived and mounted on wall on the new log cabin - superb. well pleased!

Arrived and so far appears great - EPG a bit slow and no button to switch to last channel, but these are minor issues for the price.

Tempted to get external hard drive to try PVR functionality.
