What internet speed do you need to watch movies without it stalling?

Interesting question as I suppose these boxes allow access to live BBC channels via iPlayer but not sure what the situation would be if you don't watch that.
Then again, think you need a TV license for normal sky don't you?
Shows how antiquated the whole thing is

I buy these, use the code, then sell the box on eBay for £14, so that's 6 months for TV for £6 :-)

Good price, still £26.88 on Amazon.

Shame I don't have an Argos very near to me and adding the £3.95 means that it would be slightly cheaper to get 2 of the Mark 1 boxes with 3 months entertainment pass from Shopto at £11.86 each. Obviously if you want a Mark 2 box that would be no good for you!

thanks for your reply, i assume that a license is required to watch Sky live broadcasts but I would be watching on-demand services!!

Cool, I picked up the same entertainment package deal from Argos early in the year. Been waiting for this offer to come round again, thanks for posting OP.
Any feedback on the movie pass?. Seen mixed reviews on here.

Does live Freeview come with these now?

Only on the new Smart Boxes.
However you can stream most of the live Freeview channels by side loading an app to this black box or even the first gen white one. That app is here:
Can you buy multiple and use the codes via Apple TV?

You do not require a licence to own equipment capable of receiving broadcast TV or playing iPlayer catchup services. You can own as many TVs, satellite receivers, computers and streaming devices as you like.
You do require a licence if you use the equipment to watch or record any broadcast TV. This does not only apply to BBC content but all broadcast services including ITV, SKY etc regardless of how they are recieved, via an aerial, satellite or live streaming.
From 1st September you do need a licence to watch catchup services provided by the BBC, i.e iPlayer. You still do not need a licence to watch any other catchup or on-deamnd streaming service such as NowTV, Netflix, ITV etc. Note that you do not need a licence to use iPlayer radio.
So essentially if you are using the iPlayer there are two options you have to stay legal, buy a licence or stop using the iPlayer service. Just having equipment that has an iPlayer app on it does not require you to have a licence unless you actually make use of it.
Note: It will be easier for the BBC to discover if people use iPlayer illegally as remarkably TV Licensing (Capita) have been given the right to use anti-terror laws to get IP address information from ISPs to find out who has been using the service. So if you are going to try and evade the licence then I wouldn't recommend it.

Hmmm, wonder if I can reserve and buy 3 boxes ( = spend more than £50) get the £5 voucher for a £50 spend which has just been posted as being available. Return 2 of the boxes immediately, as I really only need the one box / voucher and don't want to deprive others, and effectively get the one Now TV box for £14.95 as I will have the £5 voucher to spend at Argos another time.

Can anyone conform these come with a HDMI cable included? Thanks

24 Aug 16#27
No...
Edit: just to elaborate on that. If this was possible everyone would buy £50 worth of anything and just return everything apart from a £1 item effectively making profit.. Wouldn't make any sense.

No kodi on these, but you can share plex log ins.
Movies are typical sky selection, but for the price they are ok.
They're exactly the same films as showing on Sky movies, which is about £20 a month i think.

Completely wrong, this box is just as capable of 1080P as the current 2016 box. the only Now TV box with hardware incapable of 1080P output was the mostly long gone old white (2013) boxes. Also worth noting if you want to connect a Now TV box to a CRT TV, the white one was the last one to have analogue connections too.
Now TV service itself is only in 720P and stereo sound on all three generations of Now TV box but this is entirely due to Sky/Now TV choosing to limit their stream to that resolution, presumably so it doesn't rival/beat Sky TV on picture and sound quality, and nothing at all to do with the box....

People moan about the Movies, and yes 90% are either crap or old but there is a new movie added each day, something for everyone. Quality wise it is a slight step down from Sky HD (think upscaled dvd player quality vs Blu-ray) but there are all there to be played whenever, and by buying boxes for the codes, and selling unwanted boxes it works out next to nothing.

T&Cs:
"18. If the voucher is not returned, the voucher amount will be deducted from the money refunded."

Ah that's a shame. Got kodi on a fire stick but was thinking another kodi box for the front room. The sky cinema would've benefited a friends login.
I've not looke in to plex properly, will check it out.
