Have they sorted out the resolution yet. It's meant to be rubbish on a wide screen?

I wondered why it looks weird..

On ultra wide is rubbish. I just installed a couple of mods to fix it.

Which mods mate? I had it working quite nicely in 21:9 but had to reinstall windows, so I lost it all, and I've forgotten which ones I had....

Only just bought from CDkeys less than 24 hours ago for £18 :disappointed:.

Contact them, I'm sure they will refund the difference, they had no problem doing that for me when a game I bought was reduced shortly after I bought it.
Find their support is generally very good.

The standard textures and graphics in this game are rubbish, it's like playing on a Playstation 2 or 3. However I've seen texture mods are available if you want better graphics.
That'll be why it keeps closing down on my system!

They also recommend you drive a Porsche but a Golf still works.
I have all settings on Ultra :

No the graphics compared to other modern games are very poor. It's well known that Fallout 4 has poor graphics. Yes they're better than the previous Fallout games but they're poor in comparison to other modern games. Google Fallout 4 poor graphics for example.

Really good game, sadly not a great one. Runs very well on an i5 2500k gtx960

I picked it up for £20 in December from GAME. But now, it's best to wait for GOTY.

Of course, if you type in 'XX game poor graphics', you're going to get a pretty one-sided view of things.
No texture mods installed, unless you count Cait's outfit. Looks pretty good to me.

Now go compare it to The Witcher 3 or Crysis 3 and it's comparatively ugly.
If you want to stick in this series though remember that Fallout 2 was released in 1998, fallout 3 in 2008, fallout 4 in 2015. So it took them 10 years to get to your top screenshot from here:
Now how far have they really come in 7 years?
Proves my point entirely. Like I said compare to other modern games, Fallout 4 has poor graphics.

Proves your point in what way? You keep saying that you have a point but you aren't actually saying what it is.
I guess it's down to opinion then. As someone who's used to playing games maxed out at 1440p, I don't see much wrong with Fallout 4, aside from the occasional muddy texture. The AA is on point (though I'd prefer more options), and the anisotropic filtering actually works, unlike games like GTA V. The AO is good too, though that's more down to Nvidia's HBAO+ more than anything else.

Witcher 3 isn't exactly miles ahead. It does detail work much better than Fallout 4 does, but has noticeably more muddy textures, and as with GTA V, it's another game where AF doesn't work properly.

I'm saying categorically that Fallout 4 has lousy graphics. I have actually played the game like yourself and I've played many other new titles. Fallout 4 graphics suck.

That's called an opinion, as I just said. You still haven't said in what way the graphics suck, mind you.

In the visual perception sense.

I presume that means that you can't explain exactly what you don't like about the game's graphics.

Is the game fun to play, that's the only question you really need to answer when buying games surely?!

Are you trolling me here? I've given my opinion leave it at that. The standard of Fallout 4's textures are not in the same league as games such as The Witcher 3, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Metal Gear Solid The Phantom Pain, Dying Light, Assassin's Creed Syndicate, Batman Arkham Knight, Star Wars Battlefront. The lighting effects are primitive. Just look at Doom to see how good steam and lighting effects are.
So what I'm saying is that Fallout 4 has distinctly average graphics, it would be in no one's list of games for best looking game on the PC platform. I used my eyes to distinguish that the graphics are bland and not up to the standard of the aforementioned games and many other PC games.
That alone won't do it mate, didn't for me anyway, but give it a try, it was good for Skyrim.
I'd recommend getting.... I forget exactly what it was called but it was a more advanced startup tool that edits the ini for you, makes it easy to set 3440x1440 (or whatever yours is).
They you'll just need to fix the UI and the HUD, and some other niggles like power armour not going all the way to the edge of the screen and the rainbox.
I had it working really nicely with only a few mods before I had to reinstall windows, so it's absolutely possible! Wish I could remember which ones I was using haha. Let me know if you find a winning combination - good luck!
Oh yeah and try the Fallout 4 entry in the master games list on wsgf.org, there's a long discussion on getting it to work there and I think I found my solution somewhere in the recent-ish comments. Great site for ultrawide in general too.
