I use one of these for slicing the ham joints from my local Aldi.

Screwfix have the 240v version advertised for collect only at 35 quid. None near me though...might be a wild goose chase getting one!

Edit: For those interested, I bought a similar higher spec one last week so did a bit of research beforehand. The Rage range is supposed to be better than the Fury range you find in B&Q. It seems Evolution regularly sell 'refurb' models on ebay for about a third or so less than Screwfix prices bit only with a 3 month warranty. Not a great deal if it's your trade but for a one off decking job or similar as I'm doing I felt it was a worthwhile saving. Seems condition can be hit or miss though but customer services is excellent at putting things right. Just don't order the day before you plan to start work as I did!

Yes I have seen some others say that, I really only mentioned it for the purposes of my point in that a lot of people like me will buy something like this, do a load of stuff with it then pop it in the shed and never use it again!

Did you need to buy one of these power transformer things?

From what I was told, the evolution saws which cut both wood & metal have a speed pitched somewhere between the two. Different speeds are needed for wood & metal apparently although I can't remember which is faster! The evolution cuts neither as well as a dedicated tool.
This also means that you're stuck with their own brand blades, you can fit others with an adaptor, but they won't work as well as they should.
£25.00 for a new blade? Almost the cost of the machine itself !

I got the fury version from a b&q deal a year or so back. Some people questioned the accuracy but I've used it for cutting wooden shelves and through thin aluminium and steel. Such an ace piece of kit, the only let down being the 210mm cutting, which means for wider items you are either finishing off with a handsaw or trying to match your cuts from the other side.

Is the 110v better than the 240v?

Confused as to why the 240v is cheaper on screwfix.

edit: nevermind, just read its a safety on worksite thing to stop people getting zapped by 240v.

I've got the fury circular saw, it cuts through absolutely anything that's why the blades are expensive but if you just use them on wood they last forever so it's a case of quality over quantity. I'm after a new mitre saw but I want one that gives a fine finish.

No I bought the 240v version. It seems all of the Rage series saws are available in both 110v or 230/240v. Just check the descriptions carefully to be sure you are ordering the type you want.
